My friend's Masterpeice Arms Fal's came in today. They look like a very quality piece. One was ordered as the full rifle; came with the lower, and one was without. The one (with) had Tapco's Saw type buttstock and pistol grip on it, I was very impressed with these, they have a great feel. This one used a metric lower, and the finish was as brand new, throughout. Interestingly they come with no front sight, only a intergral picitinny type rail, the rear sight mounted on the lower remains. It is a very robust desighn, based on the semi-auto mach-11 pistols. The Sunomi drums looked brand new, and the desighn uses an overgrown Ak-style mag catch, which appeared to be milled steel. There were no sheet-metal stampings used that I could see. The upper will use either metric or inch pattern lowers, the inch lower I supplied, fit well, but the takedown catch did not fully return to the foreword position. This did not seem to be a problem though, as the upper/lower locked together in a solid way. The barrel is interesting, it has a very space-gun look. My friend has allready added a pin on muzzle break. I'll let you have a range report later. Reguards Keeder.:D

"takedown catch did not fully return to the foreword position. "

I don't know about the conversion, but on the FAL it shouldn't return to the forward (vertical) position. The extra distance is intended to allow for wear and still keep a tight lock-up between upper and lower.

We'll I don't know about the FAl, (Metric Ptoooie:barf: ) But on L1A1's/SLR's the take down catch should be in the foreward position when locked. It's a matter of fitting not break-in. If it does not fully engage, you have a very minor problem.:D
