Is a springfield XD Sub-Compact in a 40 good for a Concealed Carry.

anything can work well for concealed carry...maybe not artillery but yeah. it depends on body type, clothing, holster possiblities, etc.
but yes that is a nicely compacted pistol so it would definitely work

yes, it is great for concealed carry using a Crossbreed Supertuck (http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/beltslide.html) a cheaper option is the don hume IWB. I love my XD9SC.

I have a friend who carries an xD-40SC and likes it. He has an IWB for it.
xDs are too bulky for pocket carry, IMO.

I like the XD series, but recognize that they are thick and bulky. I don't like 40s in general, and really don't like them when they're coming out of a sub compact. If it had to be a subcompact XD, i'd make it a 9, for controllability and capacity.
I carry IWB since that's the easiest way for me to conceal. But, for a polymer framed sub compact (like the XD) i'd go for the smith and wesson M&P9c. With the magazine in it it's easy to get a full grip, and they have a very low bore axis, making felt recoil go way down.

I'm not a big fan of any double stack mag gun for concealed carry. Especially in summer, it is hard to keep them from printing comfortably.

get the right holster and you can carry about anything. ie look into raven concealment holsters.

Of course it's a good concealment gun, that's what it was designed for. I like my Glock 27 better, same idea really, but the XDsc is a great gun.
Oh yeah- www.fist-inc.com, check out the #1AK or similiar unltra-thin Kydex holsters, I use one for my 27 and it is so thin it's almost like incredibly advanced mexican carry. The K3 J-hook looks like it might be a slightly better clip system. Try one out, you will love it, and mine is what allowed me to carry a Glock all summer in shorts and a slim t-shirt and not print the sligthest amount.

Back when I was trying to pick out my first CCW I was thinking only about the gun. I now realize there are so many other factors involved such as:
• Your build (height, weight, body proportions)
• Your average daily attire (dress pants and tucked-in dress shirts, or baggy cargo shorts and t-shirts)
• Your daily routine (your job, are you in or near schools, do you go to the post office, are you in and out of car throughout the day)
• Places you may find yourself on a regular or semi-regular basis (mostly at home in a gated community in an affluent suburb, or riding public transportation through the worst parts of a big city)
Once you answer these questions you can begin to think about the firearm, caliber, holster setup, extra mags/speedloaders, etc.
Having said all that, I bought an XD-40 subcompact as my first CCW and I quickly switched to a S&W 642 Airweight 5-shot revolver. It fits me much better than the XD when I consider the above criteria. The XD is a very fine firearm and I shoot it very well, but it is blocky and heavy and it takes the right kind of setup to make it work for concealed carry.

I used to carry the XD-40 at work but decided it was too big for me to conceal unless I was wearing a coat.

Depends on HOW you conceal your weapons.. I carry an XD45c w/ no concealment or comfort issues. :D I use a band instead of a conventional holster.

I've been carrying an XD9 service, Sub, XD40 service, Sub and XD45 GAP tactical IWB since 04 and using the same holster. Of course they're CC guns.

Make mind a Colt 45 ACP Defender...small compact, and carry one heck of a punch!!!
