The magazine box in my Remington 700 in .300WSM is on the short side (in terms of length) which means that I can't seat bullets 0.020" to 0.040" off the lands and still have the round fit in the internal magazine. I recently ordered and received a Wyatt extended window magazine box which is about 0.125" longer (internal dimension). Now to my question ... I need to do some inletting on the action to fit the longer box and was wondering if anyone knows what the tapped holes are for shown with arrows "A" and "B". I shouldn't have to touch "B" but I'll definitely be cutting into "A". My guess is that they're used during fabrication but that's a SAWG. I won't need to do any inletting on the B&C stock which is good news.
