I want to attach a lanyard to my X-frame S&W revolver but need a swivel added to my gun. Is a swivel available which takes the place of the screw that holding the grip in place?

Don't know for sure on the model you mentioned, but, drill/tap for a QD sling swivel worked on a M 19.

Most all lanyard swivels attach to/through the pistol frame.
What you're thinking about will rely on the strength of the grip wood to retain your pistol. Aside that I doubt you'll find any kind of swivel that is attached to a screw of the small diameter of a S&W grip screw.

Apparently you misunderstood me. The grip retaining screw I wish to replace with *something* to which I can attach a lanyard is a 10-24 and screws into a steel nut, suspended from the frame on a steel bracket. Looks like a natural place for a lanyard ring.
Is *lanyard ring* the name of what I should be looking for?

After figuring out I wanted a Lanyard Ring, I phoned S&W and bought 2. Same lanyard ring fits both N and X frame and, as I'd hoped, they replace the grip retaining screw. :)
