Does anyone know what kind of powder Federal uses in its 12 ga target shells?

There is no way to tell what powder blend any commercial ammo company uses in factory loaded ammo.

And you couldn't buy it for reloading anyway.

I could sniff them for hours! :D

But it's not the powder they use, it's the wax in the paper hull.

Any of the Federal hulls with the paper base wad will give you that smell though not as much as the all paper hull. The Federal Top Gun shells have the paper base wad.
