Kimber "pro series" opinion?

I am thinking about picking up a Kimber Pro series (not sure which model yet). All of them have the 4" bbl that I am looking for in a carry gun, but honestly what concerns me is the "bushingless" system that they use. What are your experiences with them, because like my buddy says when it comes to wear "it's a lot cheaper to replace a bushing than an entire slide". So I want your opinions from owners of these pistols.

Thanks in advance,

Toby

Don't let the "bushingless" barrel setup bother you one bit. They have proven to be reliable and accurate. (Keep it greased/oiled, it will outlast you)

Don't let the lack of a barrel bushing bother you. Almost every other semi-auto pistol on the market for the past 100 years somehow makes do without a barrel bushing.

I've had at least five 3", 3.5" and 4" 1911s, both Kimbers and Springfield Armory, sans bushing. All have proven 100% reliable and a couple have proven phenomenally accurate. I'm now a fan of the bull barrel, and also appreciate that it's one less step in the field-stripping process as well.

(Did I mention that the CDP Pro and the Tactical Pro are really, really cool pistols?)

Thanks for the response guys. I have a Colt now (but it is my Bullseye gun not a carry piece) I was leaning HARD towards the Pro Series Kimbers, just wanted to hear some good things from people that have owned them.

Thanks again,

Toby

I have a Pro carry II and a Pro Raptor II. Had some ejection, FTRTB, issues, sent it back and it now runs flawlessly. The Pro Raptor is a dream gun.

I have a Pro Carry that I did a 10mm conversion on. It ran for 30K rounds without meaningful wear. I sold the top end and am replacing it with a bushing barrel .425 commander from Fusion Firearms. I'm just a traditional 1911 guy at heart and I hated looking for a paperclip every time I wanted to break my gun apart to clean it. Just got old.
