If you are right handed, and remotely interested in the RR 5.11 vest, now's the time to buy. LightFighter Tactical (http://www.lightfighter.com/) has been trying to get RR to produce the vest for right handers. If you haven't been following the thread over at LightFighter Forum (http://lightfighter.net/6/ubb.x?q=Y&a=tpc&s=7336015661&f=8406084761&m=8186048404&p=1) please check it out.
They were trying to get enough people to pre-order the 5.11 vest made specifically for right handers (ar 15 mag pouches on left side). Well, according to them, it's now in the works, pre-order yours today.

I might be interested in one. I went to Lightfighter Forum but had to register and will not get my confirmation email until I get home.
How much will they be asking for this vest?

I would be all over it, but I already have one. I need to go over and check out the thread you reference. I always assumed that the rationale behind putting the AR15 mags on your right side and the pistol mags on the right was because if you used both, the pistol would run dry faster than the rifle ????
I don't know, it didn't really worry me.
By the way, it took me a few minutes to find the thread. It is listed in the TACTICAL CLOTHING forum.

Click on the highlighted links in the above poost for the thread.
Also going price should be the same as Lightfighter lists them for.

Unless I missed it, it doesn't say why they feel the carbine mag pouches should be on the left and the pistol mag pouches should be on the right.

444,
You are right, it doesn't say that. I was sending that post to the other poster.
As for the reasoning behind this, well most right handers prefer to reload their rifle from the left hand, this is how we are taught to reload, never to take the firing hand off the pistol grip on the M16.
As for the pistol magazines, I will probably not use a pocket on the vest for this, I will likely use a belt clip still, just seems easier.

Right
I have never actually used my RR vest to carry magazines. I haven't had it very long and it is far too hot here to wear it so far this year. I have always used belt mounted magazine pouches and carried both rifle and pistol mags on my left side. But, on this vest, you would have to choose to carry one on the left and one on the right. I am not sure exactly what the intended purpose of this vest was or who it's intended market was supposed to be. I basically just bought one because I thought it was cool and was going to use it as a cover garment for IDPA matches. I never really thought about actually using it as a tactical vest until I read this thread. The only thing I could think about was: for a civilian or a law enforcement officer, I would think that running a 30 round mag dry in a carbine would occur far less often than running a handgun magazine dry. So the more frequently needed mags would be on the left.
Thus my question as to why rifle mags on the right and pistol on the left or whatever.
