I am considering the new XDM in 9mm for my next purchase. I am a newbie to handguns. I recently bought a Glock 30 for CCW and love it. I really like the looks of the XD and I am thinking about competing in the near future (IDPA, IPSC, Etc.). Who has one and what do you like/dislike about the gun. I like my Glock so much that I should probably get the G17, But I cannot stop thinking about the XDM.

Any other options in this type of gun that would be good for competition out of th box?

I've got both the G30 and the XDm9. Like them both. The G30 makes for a better CC gun in my opinion. Both are very accurate.

I have heard the trigger coments about the xd9 before. What is the problem? I think I can swing renting one at my local range and putting a few rounds down range.

sold my XD's due to trigger.

Great guns, 100% reliable, just a very poor, mushy trigger.

actually like the Glock trigger far better.

Just my .02

I'll be shooting my 3 week old 9mm XDM in an IDPA match tomorrow. It will be the first go round for this rig. I usually shoot a Browning HP so I'll let you know how things turn out.

The XD is a sweet pistol. A friend bought one, but I opted for a new Glock 17 as I have 4 other Glocks. I have standardized on Glocks and XS 25/7 Big Dots to keep everything the same (grip angle and sight picture). I shot my friends XDM and it is really nice.

I just picked up my XDm this last week. One hell of a gun. And it is hard to argue with 19+1 of 9mm.

It is a large gun and to big for CC but that is not it's intended role as you know.

i just picked it up today,, and if people payed attention they would see that your talking about the XDM not the XD. i just bought the XDM today and i have to say that it was worth every penny, very impressed. The trigger on the reg XD was OK. the XDM trigger is 100% better.

Can't really comment on the XDM, Haven't shot the latest version yet. Just checked them out at the gun shop. Looked good from what I could tell, just looking at it.

Just wanted to say If you are planning to shoot in IDPA Stock Service Pistol division or USPSA Production division I would take a good look at the Glock 34 instead of the G17. You will be at a disadvantage shooting a G17 in these stock classes with G34s so common in them. The Glock 34 has a longer sight radius and better trigger pull and still fit inside "The Box" as far as rules.

nope, i see that he is talking about the XDm. on my XD tactical i did trigger work to reduce take-up & over-travel. still didn't like it. looked at the XDm last week, but still didn't like the feel of the trigger, so i bought a STI Edge.

blitzen, let me know about the match. Thanks runningman for the Glock info. How much more expensive is the G34 over the G17?

How much more expensive is the G34 over the G17?A couple weeks ago at my local shop. He was selling new G17s for $509, new G34s for $599 and the new XDM for $599.

Just returned from shooting my XDM in an IDPA match for the first time and found it to be VERY easy to shoot very well with. I usually shoot in the expert class with a BHP and it takes a little work on my part. Today it just seemed easier if that makes any sence. I'm not saying it will make a bad shooter good but it might make a good shooter a little better. I like it.

Picked up an XDM a couple weeks ago for my service pistol, no complaints after 450 rounds and I prefer the XDM's grips to the Glocks. Sweet pistol
