They were running right about $175-$200 at the last gunshow I attended for post bans. The pre bans were worth a bit more as well as the ones modified for AK mags.
I got lucky and picked up a virtually unfired one for $125 in a private sale :D
Unfortunately, gone are the days of $100 SKSs.

They are still pretty cheap up here in the north.......I wouldn't pay more than $125 even if they were brand new.........also check out the Russian M44 Mosin-Nagant, another good surplus rifle cheap, and the ammo is also cheap...............

My brother-in-law just picked one up in mint condition for $132. That is a great price since more often they SELL for $175-$200.

At the gun stores down here in Metro Atl. they are going for 250 to over 300 dollars or more!! I saw a Yugo for 259 and it was a POS!!!! It had numbers and letters painted all over the crappy wood stock and the metal had pits and it was caked in DIRTY cosmoline.
I think the gun dealers are gouging a lot of folks on the SKS.
Pick up ShotGun news to see what the dealers are paying for them.

Just paid $225 for a mint Norinco with synthetic stock and 30 round mag. I will order a 10 round fixed to go back on it, but the gun doesn't even look like it has been shot.

Up here in Canada, where these guns are evil, you can get 'em for $139 plus tax...and 1200 rounds of soft point non-corrosive for $250....I bought 2 of 'em. LOVE IT A LOT!!!

About ten years jail here in Australia, plus the loss of all your legal firearms.:D

I forgot to mention, that price is for brand new out of the grease, including a bayonet and a sling......dressed mine up with a Choate stock and an AK-style muzzle brake.
That's pretty sad if that is the case in Australia; we here in Canada are feeling that the laws are going the same way, except that we are fighting it tooth and nail, and the provinces won't abide by what the Federal government is trying to ram through.
