Well it has finally happened, I bought a 1911.:) I had been looking at and reading about the Taurus PT-1911 for a long time. I figured I would get the Stainless model eventually. Well, today I went to Cabellas and they had a Duo-tone PT-1911 in stock. I had not even heard of this configuration before but it took me about 20 seconds to know that I had to have it. The flats on the slide are bright stainless while the rest of the gun is a black anodized finish. It really is sharp looking. I have got to say, Taurus gives you a lot for your money. The hardwood stocks that come on the gun are very good looking and there is also a pair of hard rubber stocks included as well. The two mags that come with the gun look just like Wilson mags and, in fact, there are no visible signs of a seam weld like on the Wilson or Kimber mags. The case it comes in is pretty nice also and they give you a bushing wrench to boot.

Since our Cabellas is one mile from the range I belong to, and it was a balmy 36 degrees today,:) I took it and the new Desantis holster to the range for a workout. The gun shoots as good as it looks and, in my opinion, that is saying something. I bought two boxes of Magtech FMJ for the initial firing. At 15 yards, 8 rounds cut a ragged 1 1/2" hole in the paper. Keeping in mind that this is not match grade ammo, I thought it did very well indeed. God I forgot how impressive a 45 caliber hole really is.:what: The sights are pretty well regulated for windage but the gun shoots about 4 inches high at 15 yards with this ammo. Not really a problem in my book since I like a six oclock hold anyway. I only shot 50 rounds of FMJ but it functioned flawlessly. I didn't wear the holster at the range but I think I am really going to like that too. I am wearing it around the house right now and it is quite comfortable. In case you are wondering, it is a Desantis Fletch.
