Hi all,

Anyone experience light primer strikes on a factory Springfield M1A? Happens about 1/3 of the time. Using American Eagle commercial ammo.

Thanks

Do you mean, light primer strikes as in pulling the trigger fails to fire the round, or light primer strikes as in you see light dimples on the primers of rounds that have been cycled into the chamber, but that you have not pulled the trigger on?

If the former, you got me. Possibly a short firing pin? If the latter, it's normal.

Are you sure the bolt is fully returned to battery position? It happened to me twice but each time it was due to the bolt not being fully forward. You have to release the bolt from all the way back to secure chamber the round.

If not, then buy a new firing pin.. maybe your old one is worn at the tips.

Certainly, try it with mil-spec ammo like 7.62 x 51 also.
