I got the paperwork back finally, and picked up my new Gemtech Halo friday. Its sounds great and i dont need to cover my ears. The problem is gas and smoke blowing out of the ejection port and into the magazine.the added backpressure is making the bolt cycle faster or something, like it ejects just as the pressure is relieved from the barrel, but not quite.witch is why i think it might be moving faster. The rifle is a Smith and Wesson M&P,in 5.56.is there a mod to fix this? I will call the shop ,they are closed till wed,and are real helpful,i just wanted some other opinions on this. Thanks

I'm pretty sure that is part of the experience of shooting a suppressed weapon. Newer styles of rifles, like the Sig 556 have adjustable gas systems, but with an M4, you're just going to have to deal with the fact that shooting suppressed is much dirtier than shooting unsuppressed. It goes with the territory.

At least that's my understanding. If I'm wrong I hope that someone will be along to tell me. You could also try asking at silencertalk.com/forums.

There's the GasBuster charging handle, which should remove some of the blowback through the back of the receiver.

I haven't tried it myself, but have you looked into the adjustable gas-tubes for the AR?

Instead of the Gas-Buster charging handle, there is a quick mod you can do with your current charging handle that works even better.

You put some black silicone putty stuff on a certain part of the CH, and it basically eliminates the gas.

congrats on the new can

it is mostly something you'll just have to learn to put up with. however, there are some things you can try to do to reduce the problems, like installing heavier BC like an m16 instead of ar16 or installing heavier buffer (H, H2)

The one thing that I have seen that will slow the gas is an MGI adjustable gas tube. It is basically a pain in the butt to have to adjust all the time, counting the turns of the little screw but it does work. Basically all you have to do is partially shut off the gas when using the can and then back the screw out when you take the can off. I have one on my AR and like it. Also beware of hearing damage from the sonic boom of the 223. Even though it does not hurt after shooting 20 or 30 rounds wait until you shoot 200 or more in an afternoon. You ears will be bleeding later in the evening.
