Which polymer-frame would you choose?

I've been loking at several polymer-framed pistols for a while now, in 9mm (cheap ammo) and today, I was shown several. If given the choice, what would you choose?

Every chance I get, I recommend the USP!

Well, I'm not all that thrilled with polymer framed guns, but I'd probably go with either a Glock or a Sig...

I've already chosen (3 Glocks).

I had to go with other.
I owned a couple of the SiGPros, both the 2340 and the 2009. Bot were accurate and reliable, but frankly, takedown was a PITA. Had a chance to tarde them for some more wheelies and what sane person would turn down an opportunity like that.
I have an HS2000 and have had it since they first hit the shelves. It's been great and I would recommend the XHS/XD to anyone.
The GLOCKs are great guns but their grip angle just doesn't work for me.
My pick of the polymers is the STAR UltraStar. I think it is without a doubt the best polymer 9mm made, perhaps the best compact 9mm period. It's one of those guns that when you hold it, you simply can't believe it's a polymer framed gun. It has none of the flex I've found in the others and doen't even sound like a polymer handgun. It's accurate, easy to maintain, great for double and triple taps and IMHO, pretty good looking too. When you add in that you can usually find one NIB for well under $300.00 they get very hard to beaat.

This may be a minority report, but after owning a couple of types, including Glock, and looking at many more, my hands down favorite polymer 9mm is the Ruger P95. Does more things well for me than any other.

I had to vote ''other'' ..... well, I mean .... if ya can't give Ruger as an option! :)
I am not a Glock fan ... never will be but .. my P95DC and P97DC suit me just fine .... great for winter carry. P97 mostly now.

USP or Glock, I voted Glock.

If money was no object, I'd go with the USP, but since I'm on a budget, I'd get the XD.

Surprised that the P99 didn't get more votes. :scrutiny:

I would take the P99 in a heartbeat over the other choices. One of the votes for the P99 is mine. :D

Depends a bit on what you want it for. For general use I'd vote Glock. For very compact carry I'd suggest (not listed) Kahr.

I say find someplace that rents and try as many as you can. Find what works for you. They're all good guns, all have their ups and downs, and I think it will come down to the ergonomics and features.
Man I remember when there were only 2 choices in polymer frames. The USP and then the Glock came out. Bunch of people went nuts for the Glocks, USP didn't get nearly the press. I guess due to the more conventional action.
I voted P99 because the ergos work for me, they look cool, and have some neat features. If you want something high-cap that narrows you WAY down in the market. USP, Glock, and I hear .40 XD mags can be used as high-cap 9mm mags. No experiance personally.
You can get 32 round 9mm mags for the Glocks. I don't know of any other poly 9mm that can say that. May be an advantage fore some people. It's a novelty to me. Althogh I've always thought it'd make a neat spare mag for the baby Glocks. 10 in the grip and 32 in the reload. I hear their can be feeding issues though since the magazine has some play.
PS, I've owned a Glock and I traded off my USP .40C. USP was a great gun but didn't fit any nitche I had.

I just thought. What about the EAA and CZ poly frame guns? I know nothing about them but wild rumors and I've only seen the Witness polys. Wasn't impressed.

I chose a Glock 17L, while my brother is about to buy a USP Expert 9mm. Both are equally good guns with specific pros and cons. The main difference is the price, 665€ vs 1090€, which is a lot of ammo.

I'm not a great fan of polymer pistols, but I do have a Glock 23 (40S&W) that I like and it fits me well. I figure you've just got to have at least one in your collection  . Mike

I was in the same situation as you are now two years ago...
I chose HK's USP, and I know I had chosen well. ;)
I would never exchange it with any of the other polymer pistols in your list.
PS: Which polymer SIG were you referring to? the SIG Pro?

USP compact in .45, or a glock in 10mm.
357SIG, I'd get the SIG 2340.
In .40, anything but a glock.

USP, despite its cost and faults.
I trusted mine. When it comes right down to it that's what matters.

Given the choice I'd get the Glock 18. Since that isn't a choice for me I voted XD. My dad has an hs2000. Ever since the extractor problem got fixed (by Springfield for free, btw) it's been extremely reliable. Fits my hand well.

Reliability, Durability, accuracy...
The HK USP
Not what would I choose... It's what I have chosen.
I carry an HK USP .45 Compact on a daily basis.
I use an HK USP 9mm Stainless with a pre ban mag for home defense.

Another Walther vote. I like carrying it better than my SIG P229 (only because it's lighter, not because I think it's an overall better gun.) I also have a USP and don't think it's that much better than the Walther although it was much more expensive. Glocks are just too ucking fugly for me, Rugers are too big, and I don't have any shooting experience with the XD although I thought the trigger was very nice when I dry fired one.

The only plastic pistols I would even consider buying is either a Glock 21 or a Glock 19. Every one I have fired was reasonably accurate and rock solid reliable. The downside is the big clunky grip, spendy hi-cap mags and lousy trigger.
I have seen some HK USP pistols in action. Nice gun but very expensive.

I chose the P99 since I have one and like it. Would like to try a USP someday. Glock has never been a consideration. They don't fit my hand and I think they're ugly.

Having done the USP and Glock thing, finally settling on 1911's and BHP's, my only choice would be an STI or SVI.

20+1 rounds of .40, or 10mm, or like 30 rounds of 9x23 is formidable.

I get a kick out of these types of questions. The responders are almost always going to answer/reccommend the gun that they use regardless of wether they ever had any first-hand experience with any of the others. I use a USP but the right choice for you is the model that appeals to you and fits you the best. I have no bad experiences with any you mentioned in the list although I have seen a number of Glocks malfunction at inopprotune times. Would I own one still, yeah but there's none near the top of my list. My second choice would be the Sig. I've shot other Sig modles and believe that the craftmanship/quality from the 200series guns would carry over into the poly models. I have to wonder how , if the XD is so great why nobody cared about it when it was the HS2000.:p S&W and P99 to me are one and the same and just don't appeal to me.

I have a Steyr M9, a USP 9, a Glock 34, and a Walther P99 QA. I am going to add an HK P2000 (http://www.hecklerkoch-usa.com/pages/civilian/p2000frameset.html) once the prices drop a bit. For general shooting, I would pick the Glock 34 because it points extremely well. After that, it is a toss-up between the P99 QA and the USP 9.
Don't overlook Sig's alloy framed guns. I really like my P239.
