Just picked up a Model 13 with a 4" barrel and was wondering if a 3" barrel could be had from S&W or from some other source. No that I mind carrying a 4" it's just that a 3" would just hide better, and it's 60 buck to swap out a barrel form S&W performance center, so I thought I'd just see.
thanks

Hum...
GPC isn't listing a 3" barrel.
They are listing a 4" barrel.... at $100.
Chances are any place you do find it it's going to be even more expensive.
All said, by the time you get a 3" barrel mounted on this gun, you might be getting pretty close to what you would pay for another Model 13 but with a 3" tube.

Brownells (at www.brownells.com) may have them, but they'll be expensive.
In the past I have shortned a 4" barrel and then dovetailed it to take a front sight like those used on popular pistols. This way you can adjust the sight for windage and file it down for elevation. You can also shape the sight any way you want, and add inserts, dots, etc.
I should add: I presume you have the heavy-barrel kind with a rib. Don't try this with a "pencil" barrel.

Even after shortening the barrel, you'd still be left with the square butt. The stock 3" comes with a round butt. Hmmmm..... I think I'll quit talking now.
