I have owned multiple XDs with many other brands in between. I currently have a XD-M in .40 and have no intentions of ever letting this one go. I am even thinking of getting another one in 9mm.

My favorite polymer frame pistol happens to be my only one, a Glock G34 9mm. I purchase it new in Nov 08, and have pushed close to 1000 rounds thru it so far. had 2 failed to chamber rounds both with Remmington UMC green box. If the Walther p99 came with a longer barrel I would seriously consider it, but my next one is likely to be the FN 57.

February 19, 2009, 07:25 AM
my favorite hands down is the sa xd.

February 19, 2009, 07:37 AM
It would be either my Walther P99 or my XD9 SC...

February 19, 2009, 07:45 AM
for me, glock, springfield, and s&w all tie.

I voted glock though, because it's what I currently have. although I did have an M&P, and getting an xd for the wife.

Keltec is also runner up

February 19, 2009, 10:05 AM
Since you didn't specifically ask what aspect of the polymer pistol made it our favorite, I voted for the one that feels best in my hand; which would be the Steyr M9. I own and have used any number of polymer pistols, including Glock, H&K, Taurus, Kahr, and KelTec, and handling the Steyr is like placing my hand in a custom made glove. It's just that good of a fit for me.

February 19, 2009, 10:17 AM
What's great is there are so many good choices. In my mind, the M&P and the XD are tied for best overall, and that's taking cost into consideration. I haven't tried an XDm yet ... could sway me to picking a single winner, I dunno.

Glock is never gonna be a bad choice, but I do think the M&P and XD designs are more refined and user-friendly. Whether they're as tough when dragged through hell is another question. As long as you've got a few spare trigger springs on hand, the Glock is probably the best SHTF handgun choice.

Jericho 9mm.

February 19, 2009, 10:35 AM
i can see glock coming out as first in this poll, with XD not far behind.

February 19, 2009, 10:36 AM
I voted for my first pistol, a USP, but really I think we should have gotten two choices, maybe three, and I don't see FN on there...

I love my FNP-9m, it's one of my favorite pistols, light, perfectly sized for carry, and the sights line themselves up for me. Oh and it has never malfunctioned.

February 19, 2009, 10:50 AM
Glock 26

February 19, 2009, 10:52 AM
and I don't see FN on there...

yeah i forgoty a couple manufacturers, i did my best to remember them off the top of my head

February 19, 2009, 11:16 AM
FNP-9...love it.

February 19, 2009, 11:40 AM
When I had polymers my favorite was an HK P30

February 19, 2009, 12:51 PM
Springfield XDM, 19+1. Gotta love that. And it's an easy gun to shoot well.

February 19, 2009, 12:56 PM

Points well, really easy to shoot, not too bulky for a 13+1 pistol in a real caliber.

It's damned ugly, but so are all the others.

February 19, 2009, 01:07 PM
It's a close call between my H&K USP 9mm and my S&W M&P 9mm. I voted for the Smith because it was certainly a better value!

Both have been utterly reliable, accurate and comfortable/fun to shoot.

February 19, 2009, 01:16 PM
If it has to be plastic - I'll take my Glock 36

February 19, 2009, 03:07 PM
Kel-Tec P-3AT

February 19, 2009, 03:53 PM
#1 Walther P99
#2 FNP-9

February 19, 2009, 05:50 PM
S@W M@P 40 SW. THEY ROCK.:neener:

February 19, 2009, 05:59 PM
I'd have to say that my G26 is my current fav. But honorable mention would have to go to my HK p9s (.45)!

February 19, 2009, 10:30 PM
My favorite is Glock. I prefer the G19.

February 20, 2009, 12:23 AM
I'm not surpirised that glock is in the lead but I would have expected some of the others to get more votes....

Just One Shot
February 20, 2009, 02:20 PM
Seeing that most of my pistols are metal and I only own one I'd have to say Ruger P-95. ;)

February 20, 2009, 02:30 PM
1. walther
2. hk
3. beretta
4. fn
5. sig

February 20, 2009, 02:37 PM
So far all my plastic pistols are Berettas. That'll change in the future once I acquire an LCP but for now I'll chalk one up in the Beretta column.

February 20, 2009, 03:12 PM
Glock, not even close IMHO

February 20, 2009, 03:25 PM
Taurus 24/7 Pro.

February 20, 2009, 04:01 PM
I feel so generic saying this, but it has to be the Glock. They aren't too pretty, but they just work.

February 20, 2009, 05:00 PM

All the way.

February 20, 2009, 08:34 PM
I like the M&P personally but really like the XD as well. In fact if I had not purchased my M&P already I would probably own and XD-M

February 20, 2009, 08:38 PM
My only plastic gun is also my most carried and most important, a P3AT. It's always with me.

In general, I hate polymer pistols. Aesthetically, I wince. But, they are a lot lighter, like the gun above.

February 20, 2009, 08:43 PM
HK makes my favorite polyguns

February 20, 2009, 08:58 PM
Without a doubt, the Smith & Wesson M&P line is king of the polymer hill for now.

You just can't argue with the fact that the M&P has won over 370 LE department "issue weapon" contracts since it was introduced in 2006. That is more new LE contracts than any other brand and by a wide margin. Most of those contracts have come at the expense of Glock and Sig... Sorry Springfield you didn't have any contracts to lose.

February 20, 2009, 09:08 PM
Use to own a Glock 17, wish i'd kept it, but I still have a Ruger p95 and although a lot of people will disagree, I'd have to say the p95. Some say it's butt ugly, too large a grip but strangely enough I have small hands and I shoot it very well, go figure.

February 20, 2009, 09:18 PM
My grand nephews water pistols.

February 20, 2009, 10:12 PM
H&K Compact .40 is by-far my favorite polymer.

Redneck with a 40
February 20, 2009, 10:12 PM
I love my XD-40, fits my hand like a glove, points naturally, is very accurate/reliable, and it eats my reloads.:) I love this pistol, I will never part with it.

February 20, 2009, 10:37 PM
Other - - - fn

February 21, 2009, 09:41 AM

Amazingly accurate and the flamage that comes out the barrel when fired is spectacular.

February 21, 2009, 09:43 AM
Very tough, but I'd have to say SIG Pro

February 21, 2009, 12:30 PM
Glock 19.

February 21, 2009, 12:46 PM
Beretta PX4 is my current choice but I had a Springfield XD SC 9mm previously.

February 21, 2009, 05:46 PM
A Walther P99 or a Walther P99C ... pretty darn tough to top either one for day-in and day-out performance, reliability, and accuracy.

February 21, 2009, 07:49 PM
I voted for the Glock, I own 2 a 19 and 21. But I recently purchased an FNP-9 and I love it.

February 21, 2009, 08:14 PM
Shot some Glocks, fine pistol but I own XD40sc, my 3rd XD.

February 22, 2009, 01:29 AM
I just moved up from a Glock G17, 9mm, to a G35, .40 S&W with a 5 5/16" barrel.

February 22, 2009, 04:17 PM
glock 19.

February 22, 2009, 05:04 PM

February 23, 2009, 02:39 AM
I've got two right now with a third on the way. My .40 P99 and .40 USP are both amazing guns. That being said I voted for the Walther. After my .40 XD M arrives I may change my mind.

February 23, 2009, 09:38 PM
I carry a G22 (my favorite) but I also have a G21. I prefer the 16 rds of .40 S&W over the 14 rds of .45 ACP.

February 24, 2009, 03:08 AM

February 24, 2009, 02:42 PM
I like the xd but love the xdm. This one is a keeper.

February 24, 2009, 08:21 PM
Plastic is for bottle not pistols only good old steel for me. besides polymere is ugly and not very comfy in the hand.

February 24, 2009, 10:17 PM
My fav is my Steyr M40.

February 24, 2009, 10:34 PM
Glock 20 SF, then XDM-40

February 24, 2009, 11:59 PM
H&K USP. The whole line is awesome. Many variants to choose from, good caliber selection and incredibly reliable. Although some complain of the "blocky" grip, the new P Series pistols seem to address that issue. The P30L, with it's interchangeable backstrap and side grip panels makes for a perfect hold.

February 25, 2009, 03:19 AM
I have a Glock 17, a Springfield XD, and a Sigpro 2340.

My favorite by far is the Sigpro.

I just love guns with hammers and real double/single action triggers.

February 25, 2009, 01:57 PM
I have to change my selection. In addition to my Ruger P95 9mm, I recently picked up a Springfield XD 5" Tactical in .40 S&W. This is now my favorite.

Kind of Blued
February 25, 2009, 02:15 PM
I WANT to like Glocks better, but they just feel horrible in my hand. XD it is...

February 25, 2009, 05:21 PM
I voted for the Glock, my favorite is the G33.

February 25, 2009, 05:53 PM
XDm 40 and Beretta PX4 Storm. They are both ultra reliable, with great ergonomics, and offer superb accuracy.

February 25, 2009, 09:48 PM
Voted Glock (17 or 19) however, I really like the HK USP45, too.

February 25, 2009, 10:35 PM
There shall only be one polymer pistol and it has a name, its name is HK VP70 :D

February 25, 2009, 11:02 PM
9mm - Glocks

.45 acp - Springfield XD45

February 26, 2009, 12:32 AM
Well I voted HK since I own 4, but to be honest my Ruger KP97D & KP345PR are excellent shooters; accurate, durable and just as capable! :)

February 26, 2009, 01:21 AM
Where is Steyr on the list... wait, I don't see it.
Where is it, where is Steyr?
Where's Steyr??!!!
Where the *&^% is it, I cannot find it?!!?
I cannot find the Steyr option, WFT?? *** ***!!??

It's not there, #@$% &^$*#. This world is going to hell

I vote Steyr, but I cannot find it in the poll... don't get me started.

February 26, 2009, 10:33 PM
I love my Glock 17. Over 10 years of problem free shooting.

Although, I recently handled a HK P30 at the gun store the other day. And now I'm having unpure thoughts about another gun... It feels like they molded the grip from my hand while I was sleeping!

February 26, 2009, 11:16 PM
xd. just wish they had a 10mm version

February 26, 2009, 11:37 PM
Glock 30SF

Glock needs to make a slogan like Porsche... "There is no substitute."

February 27, 2009, 05:45 AM
So Glock's going to win the most votes and get to form a government with Gaston as Prime minister.

But Springfiled gets to be the #2 in the Goverment.

Or if you want to go by the American take all system then Glock wins the Presidency but will have to work with Springfield to get some things done.

I am not surprised by Glock's showing (even on the High Road ;)) but the XD stomping the M&P :uhoh:

February 27, 2009, 04:14 PM
I love my Glock 17, 19, 26 and 39. But my favorite at the moment is the Ruger LCP, because it's got the size and weight so it always goes with me when the others don't.

March 8, 2009, 03:51 AM
XD9 Sub-Compact

March 8, 2009, 03:59 AM
I can see why the XD stomped the M&P...I have both, they are both great pistols...but the XD is better (and uglier).

For me at least...the XD has a better trigger, better ergonomics, better accuracy, higher capacity in 45acp and better options (modular...a lot like an AR15, switching uppers)

They are both reliable weapons.

Just one mans opinion though...

March 8, 2009, 04:03 AM
My H&K USP Compact 40S&W.

Dan Crocker
March 8, 2009, 01:19 PM
I like my XD 45 compact and my Glock 19 about equally. I usually carry the Glock since it's lighter. Oddly enough, the two guns are almost the exact same size!
