What's next?:fire: Lets see, you can go to church once per month, petition your government once per month, Not quarter soldiers for 1 day per month, must incriminate yourself except on the 15th of the month, Jury trials are scheduled for the 16th of every month, You can be tortured every day but once per month...... WOW that would be great......:barf:

1. Freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition.
2 Right to keep and bear arms
3 No quartering of soldiers.
4 Freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures.
5 Right to due process of law, freedom from self-incrimination, double jeopardy.
6 Rights of accused persons, e.g., right to a speedy and public trial.
7 Right of trial by jury in civil cases.
8 Freedom from excessive bail, cruel and unusual punishments.
9 Other rights of the people.
10 Powers reserved to the states.

You don't have to be from NJ to express your opinion to our Govenor.

Remember what happens somewhere for the first time could be a roll model for something somewhere else. Domino effect... in this current climate.. we can not afford to let one domino fall !!

Obviously this is fundamentally wrong and a violation of the 2nd Amendment so I am against it wholeheartedly. But I do have to ponder that if instituted in my home state it would save me alot of money since I have a "gun problem" it's hard for me to go a week without buying a new one of some sort.

February 21, 2009, 01:34 AM
Maybe I'm naive, but couldn't this be challenged rather easily in court?? Someone who owns no other guns could buy a gun on the first of the month. Then, immediately send the gun back to the manufacturer because the gun is "broken". Attempt to buy another gun the next day (because your other one will be "in the shop" for several weeks), and you have a right and a need to protect yourself (thus exercising your 2nd Amendment rights). When you're denied the ability to purchase another gun, slap the state with a lawsuit.

I really don't understand why "conservative" causes have such a hard time figuring out how to use the legal system and lawsuits to its' advantage. "Liberal" causes have used this to great effect over the last few decades, and we would be wise to learn a thing or two from their playbook.....

Good Luck brother your going to need it.

NJ went the way of the DoDo YEARS ago.

Lived there for 10 years of my life (job related) and was never so happy to move. There are many fond memories and friends there in NJ, however, there were too many negatives that now only seem to be compounding. Firearms ownership in NJ was always a "giant" pain. By the way Lautenberg was my Senator - jeez what an idiot (self appointed to the NJ senators throne).
I won't insult you by saying move - cause that is not in cards in all situations. Changing the extremely liberal legal "Nanny" NJ mindset will be difficult - Good luck on your quest!

Seems like the one gun a month bill comes up every month. They are going to wear us down on this one.

February 21, 2009, 10:11 AM
Only if we let them Highland... I don't intend to

I used to live in MD, which had one "controlled gun" per month (handgun and semi-auto rifle). If you bought a matched pair of Colt SAA revolvers, you had to wait a month to transfer the other one. No private sales, either.

February 21, 2009, 11:51 AM
The operative word "HAD" jumps out at me in your post. Do they still have this ?

Duke of Doubt
February 21, 2009, 11:54 AM
Wouldn't know; I escaped MD over seven years ago.

February 21, 2009, 12:15 PM
Wow, I just read the bill. It is unbelievable to think that there are people that are anti gun as this. I liked the part that said, "No firearm or imitation thereof shall be placed in any window or in any other part of the premesis where it can be readily seen from outside."

I'm going to be putting a letter together. Just this past week we avoided an effort to take away some gun rights here in Wyoming. Thanks to letters and phone calls, within one day, it was changed.

I provided links and phone numbers for everyone on here. It would be nice if you did the same for those of us not in New Jersey.

February 21, 2009, 02:40 PM
Thanks Wyocarp, and I absolutely will help out anyone else even if they are nor from NJ.

If you liked this bill, you should just read some of the stuff that's put together by some of the "Blue" politicians. It would make you vomit :barf:

Seriously, what people need to understand is that it takes a grass roots mobilization to make a change. We have the power to get what we want if we just get off of our asses and let the politicians know.

Why do you think they do what they do?? Because the opposing view is much more active and vocal and the politicians will follow the loudest voice. It's in our hands people, you need to realize this. And I'm not just talking about the 2d Amendment, I'm talking about our country.

February 21, 2009, 03:37 PM
Psychology being what it is, seems to me this bill might well increase gun sales. If you are only allowed to buy one gun per month, the subliminal message is: you had better buy all you can while you can.

February 21, 2009, 03:46 PM
You aren't kidding, woof. I used to keep a calendar in MD, to let me know when it was time to buy another gun. I'm quite serious.

February 21, 2009, 03:51 PM
Your about 3 months late with that idea... Like it or not the prez has been the best gun salesman in the history of the US.

February 21, 2009, 03:51 PM
That sounds like legislation my wife put through for me... except my laws are 2 guns per year. Both sets of laws are unconstitutional, but only one is open for discussion.

February 21, 2009, 04:13 PM
Silly me, but it appears that such a law would violate the New Jersey State Constitution Article I

"1. All persons are by nature free and independent, and have certain natural and unalienable rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, of acquiring, possessing, and protecting property, and of pursuing and obtaining safety and happiness. "

February 21, 2009, 04:54 PM
Very good, however the line right below it says..

2. a. All political power is inherent in the people. Government is instituted for the protection, security, and benefit of the people, and they have the right at all times to alter or reform the same, whenever the public good may require it.

it starts out all good but then.......WHAM

February 21, 2009, 09:15 PM
im not a very political person outside of my state of delaware but maryland has had this law for a while now and is planning on expanding it to only 5 guns a year
