I just want a wooden stock...

Hey folks. Last year, due to places I was going for work, I decided it was time to purchase some kind of a gun to keep in the car. I was under the mistaken impression that I couldn't keep a handgun in there, so I went for the next-best thing -- the shortest shotgun I could find. Got a PGO Maverick for about $150. The PGO is not just a whole lot of fun to shoot, so soon as I could I bought a top-folding stock from ATI. I am not into "tacticool" stuff as a general rule, but I needed something that would fit in a specific bag in my car, and so I made it work. Thing is still a beast to shoot, but it does its job.

Now, though, I've got a .357 which is doing excellent vehicle duty so I want to put a real stock on my mossberg, which will continue to ride in the trunk/hatch and will stay by my bedside when I am at home. I like shooting with a wooden stock a whole lot better and, since this gun's main purpose is utility, don't really care what it looks like. I am having trouble finding one anywhere on the internet, short of ATI's pistol grip/full stock, but that one is plastic. Anybody know where I could find just a plain wooden stock? I wouldn't care if it was beat-up or ugly looking. Like I said, I just want it to work.

Gunbroker has one for about $40.00 plus shipping, and it is in brand new condition. Is this a good buy or are there likely to be better ones out there?

Probably about the best pricew you will find.

If all else fails, try Havlin Sales or Mossberg.

'nother question...

Will Mossberg 500 stocks fit the 88?

But you have to watch the forestocks, there is something different about some of those. Havlins is good with reasonable prices, and if you contact them, they are quite helpful with matching stocks. I learned this with putting a wood stock on a Maverick that came with a cracked forestock and a SpeedFeed pistol stock. You have long forestocks and short forestocks, some are "double bar " And others are " single bar ". There are much more knowledgeable minds here than mine. I'm sure they will guide you through this. Once you figure out what you have, the easier it will be to order what you need. This is a great place to learn.

By "forestocks" do you mean "foregrips"?
