I'm sure this is an extremely elementary matter, but I'm having trouble figuring it out nonetheless.

I need to know how to disassemble the bolt on a Stevens 120 single-shot .22. This is the basic cookie-cutter type Savage/Stevens/Sprinfield rifle. The mainspring is quite weak and I'm hoping to replace it myself if I can figure out how to get to it.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Nathan

Maybe I am thinking of the wrong rifle, but does the cocking piece slip off sideways after you push or pull something? Sorry to be so vague; I have not seen one of those in years, but IIRC it was about as simple a rifle as you could get, with a long sear and a stamped trigger.

From your description of the cocking piece removal, I believe we are on two different pages. I guess I'l just keep scratching my head over it. I'm starting to think that if I can't figure out something this simple, I probably don't need to be working on it :)
