Beretta 96 Mags in a Cougar?

I was looking at my Stoeger Cougar .40 today, and I was wondering why it could only hold ten rounds:confused:. The last witness hole ends about an inch from the floorplate, and there are dents on the side to stop the follower. I know that this gun was originally designed in the bad old days:fire:, and it makes sense for it to come with a 10 round magazine, but seriously, why would I walk around with 10+1 when I could have more in the magazine? I looked around, and it doesn't seem like anyone makes a hi-cap magazine for it, so my question is, can I modify a Beretta 96 magazine to fit? Or modify my own magazine to hold more rounds? I found a Mec-gar magazine I would get, if I could convert it to run in my gun (http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10421453). More is better!!

Beretta has factory original 11rd mags on sale for $19.95, you migh be able to find a +1 or +2 floor plate to fit. There's not alot of space between the mag catch holes on the two different mags, might not be enough metal left to hold up if you cut another slot in the 96 mag.
