Good stuff.

Does the 1911 kick as much as they infer?

I watched the show last night, and it was very good. One thing that was not explained: when was the Springfield rifle replaced by the Garand?

It's was pretty good - but still a lot of references to the "knockdown power" of the .45. Also, one guy said, in reference to the 1911's accuracy as compared to the 1892 .38, something like "it's so accurate that when you shoot at something with the 1911, you *will* hit it." Oh yeah, I forgot about the kicking of the 1911 - lotta gems in that segment, wasn't there? Another guy explained how your hand's grip on the 1911 is so important, with it's incredibly powerful kick - lol.

I believe that the Garand was officially adopted in 1936 or 1937, but was still undergoing some modifications based on limited unit testing up until 1939 or so.

EClancy can answer this a lot better.

Eclancy - the man who asks the questions that I can never answer. :( Guess I'll break down and buy his darn books.
