i was doing a search today and i inadvertantly came accross a webpage that had a bunch of semi auto versions of what looked like Mac-10 or micro uzis
i meant to bookmark the page so i could go back because i wasnt looking for that in the first place well i forgot to mark it went to work came home and forgot how i even got there in the first place they were really dirt cheap like 400 bux so i know there probably junk and the charging handle looked like a gnarled(sp) piece of rod stock out the side instead of the top
any idea what im talking about or the page?

I don't know who makes them, but I noticed a couple of MAC 10 wannabees in a display case last week when I visited a gun shop. I wasn't interested enough to handle or ask about them, but they are out there.

They are in the same family as the TEC 10, and I gotta ask, what are they good for?

Probably Masterpiece Arms or Cobray:

Was it one of those?

You mean the TEC-9? The big difference is that the MAC was actually adopted by various militaries (Brazil, Cuba, and allegedly some US SOF in Vietnam), while the TEC was never fielded by anyone, but was a failed Swedish subgun design that was bought by an American firm for production as a cheap semi-auto.

Neither is a particularly practical option, but both are fun novelties, with probably the MAC having the edge for being a better (primitive) design and better executed by its several manufacturers.

Yup thats the one thanks Matt (btw my name is Matt too)
as for good for anything i dont know but i like to collect odd things so it be more of a look what i have item than home defense or any kind of target shooting i have firearms for all that already so anything new will be just a conversation piece

My boss picked up a mini-masterpiece 9mm.

Both that is a lot of steel for the money. It is one solid gun. I am actually envious of him as it seems like a nice gun to just "play with".

The MasterPiece Arms MACs are considered to be very high quality, and are in the price range you mentioned. Also, they're great because they're really simple to maintain. MatthewVanitas is right that a MAC is a novelty, but an awesome novelty. If you buy it I hope you're a social guy, because everyone on the firing line is going to want to try it out. I suppose it could also make a pretty mean home defense weapon, 30 rounds of .45 acp would make me feel pretty comfortable.

I have a pre ban SWD M11/9. It has never faild to feed fire or eject in the over 12yrs I have owned it.

The only thing to watch out for is leaving the factory plastic mags loaded. You will split the feed lips or crack the mag body along the molding line in the back... They do make metal mags for them but beware as some are better than others....

The Masterpeice Arms MACs are quality pistols. I've look at a bunch of them over the past few years and every one I have handled was very well fitted and nicely parkerized. IMO that company has their act together and if I wanted a new MAC I'd buy one of theirs.

For fun range pistols they are a blast. Mines actually very, very accurate.

The MACs are totally different than the Intratec (TEC9) built weapons. I have a pre ban TEC9 as well.... and we'll just say that it's a worthless POS. I wouldn't recommend a TEC9 to anyone one... even on a bet.

I would recommend a MAC to everyone thou. The ANTI's absolutly hate them and to boot they are actually good weapons -reason enough to own at least one in my book.

There is a gunshop near here with a few MAC-10s but they are actual MAC-10s... not semi-auto versions. They are around $3000 I think... still not too bad if you want to have some fun with it but the class 3 permit would be a headache and a 3 month wait... Not to mention the giddy schoolgirl approach I would have to it... probably go through 3-4 bricks of 9mm ammo with a Joker sized smile on my face... and nothing left of the 25 yard target

The MPA macs use Sten mags.

i like the .45s so i gues "greese gun" mags would work for those right? or would the M3 mags not be the same as what they are calling greese gun mags?

I nearly bought a MAC-10 copy when I was slightly younger and dumber just for fun. It was decent quality, but SO unwieldy and had a TERRIBLE trigger.

In semi-auto only form, they are nothing but oversize clunky handguns.

Yeah, but they are still guns and fun to shoot. Plus I like the fact that me having one makes anti's upset.

Anyone know is anyone is still producing these in .380 ACP?

As I recall M3 "Grease Gun" mags had to be modified somewhat to work in the MAC 10. I believe it had to do with where the magazine latched into place in the mag well for the two different guns.

Depends on the model. I have one of the Masterpiece Mac-10's and it uses the grease gun mags without needing them to be modified.

"...forgot to mark it..." Look under 'History' in Internet Explorer. The circle with the green arrow in IE 6.0. Same place in Netscape. 'Go' in Firefox.

I have had the pleasure of firing the real mac 10's in .45 and mac's in 9 mm... both firing from the open bolt.... both full auto with suppressors..... VERY MUCH FUN......

wish I could afford to own one myself....

All I got is a Cobray semi auto in 9 mm....still fun......but full auto rocks!
