My first real life gunsmithing attempt, GLOCK grip reduction

Tell me what you guys think. I've built a few ARs and 10/22s but most of that simply entails assembly, not actual modification.

I've always hated the way my GLOCK 27 felt so I did the grip modification.

The slide release is extended and the sights are actually a combination of the Ameriglo Ghost Ring rear sight and the XS BIg Dot front sight. I've found this to be quick. As long as you can see the large front sight inside of the ghost ring, you'll hit a person center mass at defensive range.

As for the stippling, I did it with a soldering iron.

The barrel is a threaded Federal Arms .357 Sig barrel and the flash suppressor/compensator is an AK74 type that was made for me to fit this barrel and caliber. I still have the .40 barrel which is more suitable for carry, although this configuration is still less bulky than a GLOCK 23.

Any opinions? Do the lines look straight? Generally I can't draw a straight line with a ruler so I was hesitant to try it but I don't think it looks too bad.

Looks good to me, other than the goofy flash supperssor, but hey, it's your gun. :)

Are the first and 4th pics the same grip? the first one looks a bit sharper at the bottom edge.

Did you happen to take pics of the grip reduction process? I'm debating attempting it with my G23.

Did you use acraglas gel?

They're identical. I didn't take pictures of the process. But it was simpler then I though it'd be. I used regular Acraglas, not the Gel. The Acraglas did not take well to the stippling, whereas the Gel is rumored to handle it better.

Got a pic of the lower part of the grip where the acraglas didn't like the stippling?

Did you use a belt sander to remove the hump?

I can take a picture. What I did was covered the area in liquid rubber, then stippled that.

I actually did it with a Dremel tool, using a flap wheel.

i think that the grip job on the glock looks great, good job, however using an xs sight with another sight system is odd to me, and would seem that you are actually doing defeating the purpose of the xs bd sights. if it works good for you then that is all that matters, i just personally wouldn't mix xs sights with anything other than an xs rear, especially a ghost ring. i don't understand the reasoning behind the barrel either, the gun is supposed to be a sub compact again to me it seems that the way you have it set up defeats the purpose. the gun is over all longer.:scrutiny:

The barrel isn't part of my normal setup. If I carry it, I carry it with the .40 barrel. The .357 Sig barrel was bought mostly to expand its capabilities.

As for the sight setup, the front sight is still the main point of focus. When looking at the front sight the rear sight kind of fades away. With this setup, as long as the front sight is anywhere within the rear sight, you'll score your hit.
