I plan to purchase a Savage 10fp in .308. I will want to get a tactical stock for it. I like the HS Precision line of tactical stocks, but they recomend their action or a Remington 700 action. My question is, can a Savage action be bedded on the HS Precision Tactical stock? I cannot find the dimentions of the Savage or the Remington actions to make a good judgement. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know of anyone who has done this, I have a 10 FP SA in .308 also.
Try McMillan they make one for the Savage factory or Bell and Carlson Duramaxx.

The 2 are similar but not close enough to swap stocks on. McMillan makes great stocks and inlets them for Savages. If you want a stock with an aluminum bedding block in it go for the ones from Sharpshooter supply. Have heard mixed things about the B&C Duramaxx stock, if you are looking to spend money on an HS then look at the other 2 first.

Unless you are on a tight budget (probably not since you mentioned HS) I would not opt for the Duramaxx. I tried one on my 10FP and it exhibited an excessive amount of flex when shooting from a bipod. Not much better than the factory stock. I sold both the B&C and factory stock to come up with enough cash to get a Choate. It keeps me shooting while I save up for a McMillan. If you have the funds, you can't go wrong with a McMillan. Good Luck!

I guess the McMillan stock is the way I'll go. I have another question, can the 10FP be fitted with a detachable magazine? I would have better use for that than a internal one. Thanks again.

Remington and Savage bolt actions are so similar, that they are interchangable. This is from a local gunsmith, so the Savage action on the HS Precision stock is do-able, with little or no modification to the stock.

Call HS precision and ask them they will tell you.

I shot a friend's Savage .223 (don't remember the model) with a Choate stock. I thought it was very nice. It had interchangable cheek pieces and adjustable length of pull. I've never seen a Choate stock fail either.
