I know alumanum isnt spelled right LOL :)
anyway i have a bunch of new unloaded cases and would like to reload them, will the regular 38spl dies work on alumanum??
that goofy friend of mine has unloaded these shells and used the powder and remelted the lead for other shells :( anyway there is about 150 cases that are still primed just need powder and lead and i was going to reload them if i can use my dies,
thanks
PS: after seeing him do things i will never fire one of his shells again or listen to what he says is true, with out comming here first :) thanks

Yes, it should work.
You likely won't need to re-size them, and the seating crimp die should work just fine.

I wonder how many safe loadings those aluminum cases will yield with a low pressure round like the 38.

IIRC, aluminum cases are Berdan primed, so reloading after firing will not work

My thinking is none as they aren't made to be reloaded but more experienced ppl would know. I know I sure wouldn't do it.

Alumanenmum doesn't respond well to repeated expansions & re-sizings.
It will work harden very quickly and bad things can happen.
This link has nothing to do with reloading them, but it does indicate how different the metal properties are from brass.

But like the man said, all of them I have seen are Berdan primed, and you can't get Berdan primers. And it is way more trouble then it is worth for .38 Special anyway.
I know aluminum isn't spelled right too! :D

Aluminum cases in 9mm do not have the same case capacity as brass cases. The aluminum base is thicker, greatly reducing capacity. Thus, load data for brass cases will yield significantly higher pressures. Better compare your aluminum 38Special cases to brass cases before you adopt brass load data.

I wouldn't bother using Aluminum cases unless I were loading "snake shot" shells.
(or unless I got a lot of them for free!! :p)

in my 45 acp, they split on the first reload. dont waste your time. if you want to reuse them, get some rubber bullets and use in them with the primer only. that is what i did.
