I was thumbing through shotgun news last night and noticed in the KY Imports ad, they are selling a "Kahr Covert K-40" pistol. The picture clearly shows a steel framed pistol with a shortened grip.

Is this an older model that Kahr used to sell before the polymer framed P-40 Covert?

Yes and No. The K40 Covert is a combo of the MK frame and the K slide/barrel.
Its a shorter grip'd gun for better concealment and has the std. 3.5" barrel for good velocity...etc.
They are a great gun ..but never really took off. They are as good as any Kahr made...but the design, regardless of how great for CCW, never took off.
Its the original design the P series Covert copied.

Shoot well....................

That's interesting, thanks for the info.

Now that's another hard to find, unpopular gun to add to my list.

I for one believe the K40 Covert is a great conceal gun. After packing the P9 for some time, it became apparent to me that the grip caused more "printing" issues than anything else - at least with my sideboards... :uhoh:

I also preferred the .40 S&W to the 9mm so went looking for something in that flavor, figuring on an MK40. I ran across a deal on the K40 Covert at one of the local stores (Outdoor America) and walked out the door with this little beauty for a mere $375 and change - BRAND NEW, IN THE BOX!

I believe Kahr had the right idea with the longer slide and more concealable short grip. But, obviously I was in the minority. Oh well, everyone else's loss = my gain.
