There are a few FNARs at local stores - all with the same barrel. I've asked at each store if it was the standard or heavy barrel and got the same response - "well - it's heavier than normal". They don't look heavy to me. Doesn't say anything on the reciever. Anybody got the diameter on the heavy barrel? That way I could just take a caliper and find out for sure. I'd like to get a FNAR, but I'm not interested in the standard barrel.

Can't you use the FNH item numbers for confirmation? They should be on the box that the rifle comes in.
FNAR Light Barrel
Item Number:
3108929140 (10 round magazine)
3108929250 (20 round magazine)
FNAR Heavy Barrel
Item Number:
3108929150 (10 round magazine)
3108929100 (20 round magazine)

No biggie ... just put it down to rifle fever. I may be wrong about this but I think every FNAR comes in a nice case. I've NEVER had a rifle come in a case ... just a cardboard box. :(

1958 is correct about the box and P/N.
Unfortunately, the FNAR comes in a nice heavy plastic case with diamond foam BUT it is too small to hold the gun if you put almost any but the smallest scope on it. For ~ $200, however, you can get a scope mount that comes off and re-attaches back to zero. Good set of rings is $30 ea., so go figure.

Karl,
I finally just hauled off and measured the barrel of my HB. Here are the outside diameter readings of the barrel at three places (it tapers):
muzzle: 0.762" = 19.36 mm
1/2" from receiver: 1.172" = 29.77 mm
@ receiver: 1.240" = 31.5 mm (basically the width of the receiver. which is 1.25")
