which do you like out of these rnds and why? 7mm rem mag vs. .270 win?

I didn't vote because I like them both. If you want a real poll where people vote more than emotions, you need to specify "for what?".

Both are in the top 10 cartridges sold in the US. Both are flat shooting and hard hitting. Both with take most large game in NA (and the largest with good shot placement).

The 7mm Mag has a little more oomph at a little longer range with a little flatter trajectory with a **slightly** more recognized ballistically efficient bullet.

The .270 will do just about everything the 7mm Mag will do with less recoil and less barrel wear. Plus Jack OConnor thought it was the best rifle cartridge ever devised.

That said, when I step up from my .308 for my elk hunt that I ****WILL**** do someday, I would morelikely get the 7mm Mag (or 300 Mag) over the .270.

Again, an almost meaningless comparison when using bullet weights of 150 grains or less. With bullets heavier than 150 gr. there is virtually no selection for the .270, so by default, the 7mm comes out on top.

I'd opt for the 7 mag just because of the loadings available in heavier bullet weights.

well I got the .270 and its for texas hunting. and for animals that are 250 or less i believe it will be fine. most people say the 7mm and the .30-06 are about the same and .270 and the -06 are the same. well the .270 has the recoil of the .308 and the range of the 7mm mag with cheaper ammo and better avaliblity. my mag holds 5 the 7mm mag holds 3. and with 3/4 inch groups well im happy now.

trigger you think 270 is easier to find then 7 rem. ive never been to a place that sold ammo and didnt carry 7 rem walmart, kmart, mom and pop

The only thing the .270 Win offers over the 7mm Rem Mag is a little less recoil. The 7mm offers better performance and a greater selection of ammunition and components, particularly match bullets.

I like the .270. It is versitile and effective, and it shares that place in my heart that only a boy's first hunting rifle can share. But from a practical standpoint, the 7mm Rem Mag, or even the .280 Rem, is probably more useful and effective, and certainly more versitile.

yes and its $15-$20 dollars a box. i like being able to practice 40 rnds with $20. If i need more power than a .270 then i will use my 8x57js. I live in the country too. the town i live in has 1500 people. the hardware store had .30-06, .270 , .243 , .308 , .30-30 , .22-250, .45acp , .357mag , .22 and .22mag. no guns but plenty of ammo. my next gun may be a center fire .22 of some kind. I really like shooting center fire rifles. don't wanna be too beat up. but I like the light recoil of this rnd and the 3/4 inch groups mag cap(hogs). the 7mm mag may have my .270 beat with 150 gr. bullets on range and trajectory. but the way its easy on may shoulder and accurate on target lets me know that i did the right thing.

I know I never feel a 12ga with 3 inch magnums when rising up on a flight of ducks or geese. I can get 3 rounds off and know I fired them, knew my shoulder jerked, but never really felt the recoil.
