Knoxx folding stock questions

Anyone have any first hand experience with the knoxx recoil reducer with the wire folder? Looks like it's just the recoil reducing pistol grip with a folder attached. I'd like a folder for my truck gun but not if it's not controllable and fast on target. Thanks

I have the Knoxx M4 style recoil reducing stock and it works great. I wish I could try the wire stock just to see how it feels. Personally, I wouldn't go with the wire stock. If you want something that packs down a little smaller, I guess I can see it. But most of the time (I assume) you will be shooting with a stock extended, so just go with either an M4 style. It still collapses a bit smaller but is still sturdy enough for shooting the stout loads.

Do you have a budget?
If you've got the cash to burn, I believe you can get a folding stock adapter that takes AR-15 stocks, and Mesa Tactical makes one of those stocks with a hydraulic recoil reducer in it.

I have had both but prefer the M4 style. The wire is not shoulder freindly and you can't use a side carrier for extra rounds. Either one is way better than stock or rigid style folder.

Ive found the Knoxx stocks to be one of the worst values of all the overhyped products Ive used. If there is any recoil reduction it isnt noticable. I prefer a hardwood or synthetic standard stock.

I found the recoil reduction very noticeable, from the pistol grip or the M4-style "SpecOps" stock. can't imagine the wire folder being comfortable, tho.

Well, I may just stick with the factory stock for now. I just wanted something easier to stow. I definitely wouldn't even consider a wire stock like that without the recoil reduction feature. I haven't used any or the recoil reducing stocks so I wasn't sure if they'd lighten things up enough to use a folder like that. Thanks for the info.

Not only is the wire uncomfortable for cheek weld but it is also not all that compact when folded and it seemed quite bulky and heavy to me....the regular specops is better and it does give you some length reduction.

Friend of mine has one on his Mossberg.
He has the Gen I version. I call it the Knucklebuster as it kept shredding my thumb...badly. I think the newer ones are of a different design that don't do that.
But it dampens recoil like crazy, despite how uncomfortable the wire CopStock is.
If there is any recoil reduction it isnt noticable
You don't understand the purpose of the Knoxx system then. It's not designed to REDUCE recoil, but spread it out over a longer timeframe. Instead of a quick, hard jab to the shoulder, it's more of a shove. Like the difference between 10mm and 45.

I've shot the earlier version, the SpecOps, and found it very effective. I shot over 50 slugs, one handed, over a period of about 20 minutes, with no discomfort to my hand. I was shooting a tree stump and held a pie plate size hole, center of stump, at about 50 yards.
I've shot the wire on my shoulder and never had a problem. Target recovery is better with these stocks too. I haven't shot the new folder so can't comment on it yet. It looks like it has more surface area with the rubber pad on the loop so it probably is a bit more comfortable to shoot. The wire frame is removable or you can buy the Breachers grip which doesn't come with the wire frame.
chris in va nailed it with his explanation of how the Knoxx system works. I found their products to be conservatively advertised.
Apparently Remington likes the SpecOps style too, as they are offering them on the M&P and some Turkey guns from their factory.
Don't hesitate to buy one if you are looking for reduced felt recoil.
I've quit shooting shotguns without a Knoxx stock, except for testing purposes, of course.

I have the Spec Ops stock on my 590A1 and trust me, the recoil reduction is substantial. Follow-up shots are much faster.

Mainsail - nice! What bayo & bayo adapter?

The bayonet is an M9 standard issue. I don’t know what you mean about a bayonet adapter, as the 590A1 has the lug there as OEM.

My main issue with the Knoxx folder was that I wished it would fold down further till it was touching the receiver...why they made it stick up so high when folded is a mystery?

Wow, I didn't realize it stuck up like that. I thought it folded all the way down to the receiver. Kinda defeats the purpose.

I guess I should revise my opinion. There is significant noticability in the perceived recoil reduction but I still tend to think as a combat implement it is an unwise choice and still a not so good value.

The reason the stock does not touch the receiver when folded is to accommodate for ghost ring sights, red dot, ect.

Ghost Ring rear shouldn't be a problem....and if I had a red dot I would just fold it till the rubber was touching the red dot if I could.
Somehow I don't think it was designed to be a bulky folder just to clear red dots...I think it was just easier to make it stop 180 degrees from the open position.

I get a lot of this from friends that try out my 590 with the Compstock.
After about 30 rounds, they finally figure out how to actually use the stock and the benefits roll in.
Knoxx stocks definitely have a learning curve, and I think this turns most people off, especially since you get kicked twice if you don't know how to work the Knoxx stock.

The clearance is so it "Does not inhibit site picture when folded", so you can have a clear view of them sights.

It could go done further and still provide a sight picture....honest I don't think the stopping point was designed as a "feature"
What they should do is modify it into a side folder....
KalashnikovKiller

I think there ought to be less clearance as well, because in the pistol grip position I am not depending on my sights as much.
I do believe that the gap is intentional.
I found this interesting

They should modify the rubber butt pad
and it should have folded down closer to the receiver
