I recently acquired a 1917 DWM Luger 9mm. It's in really good shape but is missing the trigger plate, which is about a 1"x1" plate above the trigger. Does anyone know who might carry parts for this pistol? I've searched around the Internet for the past hour and didn't find much. Would appreciate some guidance. I'm new to Lugers, but I believe this is the same as a P-08??? Not sure what the significance is of the 1917 version. Would appreciate any info any of you may have.

Thanks.

P.08 (Pistole 1908) was the German military designation for the 9mm Luger (which is properly called the Parabellum pistol; the term "Luger" being a trademark of Stoeger, an early importer into the U.S.) The 1917 is the date of manufacture of yours, which was made during WWI.

You might try www.gunpartscorp.com for the trigger plate. If it is missing on your gun, you will need the trigger lever and trigger lever pin as well.

(Note: the trigger lever pin is supposed to have a "jog" in it; do not try to straighten it.)

If they don't have the sideplate (around $35) buy the lever and pin anyway in case you run into a sideplate.

They don't guarantee matching numbers and will not search for them, nor do they guarantee finish.

Thanks for the help, Jim. Pardon the ignornace, but why would you think the trigger lever and trigger lever pin were also missing? I don't know a thing about these guns, so I'm not challenging you, just trying to understand and build a knowledge basis.

Because they are attached to the sideplate and come off with it when you take the gun apart for cleaning.

You might try Simpsons Ltd. They will come as close as anyone to being able to match a side-plate.
