Is Lee Deluxe Turret w/Auto Index primer seating safe?

Hey Y'all! I just received my 4-hole Lee deluxe turret press kit with auto-index (decided to upgrade after 2 years on a single stage). I'm a little concerned about the primer-seater. It looks like if I don't remove it after seating each primer it will continue to come into contact with the primer between charging the case, seating the bullet, and crimping. :uhoh: Am I right in this assumption (haven't actually mounted and used it yet)?

It has a little spring on the ram so it will have a little give, but I'm concerned about powder bits or random debris getting on the ram and causing a detonation when it comes into contact with the primer on the down-stroke between the previously mentioned operations. :what:

Anyone have any experience with this press and had any problems with this?

Thanks in advance! :)

Yes it's safe and no it doesn't. If you look at the video DM posted you will see that the first time he raises the handle he has to push it to seat the primer. If you only push while seating the primer and not on the other strokes it will never touch the primer. I have been using the same press for almost three years. Don't worry about the primer or a little powder getting on the ram. I don't recommend it but I have actually pushed hard enough to seat a couple of primers on cases where I missed swaging the primer pocket without any problems. It's a great press I think you will be very happy with it.
