Two 5.56 Ammo questions

I'll ask the easy one first:

1. Who has Hornady's 8126N ammo in stock? This is the 5.56 75gr TAP BTHP/WC T2 stuff.

Now, the slightly more difficult one:

2. What ammo exhibits the best penetration (barrier or armor) with the old 1:12 twist 20" barrels? (5.56 chamber, obviously)?

Yes, these are for use in two very different ARs. :)

Thanks,

Mike

(never tested this, so i might be totaly off)
since armorpiercing ammo is off limits..
can you get RUAG 63gr ammo?
it is made for the 1:10 twist rate in our SIG rifles and can pack quit deep punch, a 1:12 should stabilize it.

here the fact sheet:

I would guess that a 1/12 is not going to stabilize anything over a 60 grain BT spitzer. I know my old Colt won't.

Your best bet for the most penetration is one of the controlled expansion .223 deer bullets like the Cor-Bon DPX 53 grain solid copper or 60 grain Nosler partition.

Not cheap, but very effective if deep penetration with a lighter bullet is what you want!

barnes made solids in .224 for a while but you'd have to search for them and then handload them

heh, you know rcmodel, no sooner than i'd posted that, my wife brought the mail in and flopped the midwayusa flyer in my lap and sure enough, barnes solids and triple-shocks are on sale in there!

geez

back when i was experimenting more a couple years ago, it was nearly impossible to find those solids.

I'm looking for barrier or armor penetration, not ncessarily deep penetration in soft tissue (I know, they'll be related somewhat). I've been tasked with trying to find something appropriate to consider for the old M16A1s we use to supplement our TAP loads for a scenario where you WANT and need to shoot through stuff. Would something like that Corbon round be the right ticket, or would the heaviest ball ammo we can find that will stabilize be a better bet?

Hmm...I have some Radway Green ss109/855, but that won't work well with the slow twist rate. We zero at 50yds, and probably would never shoot beyond 100...still just sounds like a bad idea.
