Where have all the Primers gone?

Handloading without primers appears difficult to impossible. Why are primers so impossible to obtain? All major sources seem out! A primerless America appears insanely in peril of foreign intervention. For lack of a primer, the battle was lost. cliffy

I bought 1,000 large pistol CCI primers today. $31 + sales tax. I got 1,000 small rifle primers from the same place a couple weeks ago. Here's a hint.

Read between the lines.
And shop local.

I have posted comments about this problem several times. According to the gun store managers/clerks, people have been scared since the last election and are hoarding components, expecting a ban on the way. Have you also tried buying bullets, cases or powder lately? How about loaded ammo? :(

Yea, it's all scarce right now. It will get better.

I agree once people realize that 1 man can not change the laws. It is Congress that makes the laws and last time I checked the majority of lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are not for violation of the 2nd Amendment. If not for reasons of their own but, even the libs like to own guns and it would be political suicide.

I think all the gun owners who went out and voted for Obama, and then started hoarding guns, ammo, and reloading supplies because of their fear of him, are to blame for this.

It takes patience and perseverance, but primers can be found. I made the "usual" rounds last week to a pawn shop, Bass Pro and a gun shop. All had shotgun primers, none had rifle primers and only the gun shop had pistol primers, (they now have less).
I took the wife to the airport yesterday and stopped at Cabella's on the way home. They were well stocked with finished ammo, had a good supply of bullets, and also had some primers, (again, they now have less).

I just happened to make the internet rounds a few days ago and caught Grafs with a fresh stock of Winchester primers. They now have 10,000 fewer. ( variety pack?)
