A friend asked me to ask you gurus (he doesn't have internet) where to look for the serial # on a Savage 77D...He's gettin' on in years and his eyesight ain't all that so it's probably in plain sight....grumble grumble....Anyway I said that I'd ask so I did....He also asked about the Savage super choke on the thing... anybody know anything about them?....

Thanks for your time.

It probably doesn't have a serial number. They were made from '54 to '71 and serial numbers were not required until the passage of the Gun Control Act of 1968.

I don't know a thing about the adjustable choke other than it twists to adjust the choke. :)

Looking at my copy of the '67 Shooter's Bible, the Lyman Cutts Compensator is very similar, although it has 12 slots cut into it and the Savages I googled up only had 9.

Thanks JohnBT... I'll tell him that he might not be as blind as I think he is.....
