Right, kids. So I was lurking at one of the local pawnshops and I spotted a strange creature I just had to have a look at; an old 20-gauge bolt-action. Thing looked terrible and didn't even work but it was only $35. Though, I'm moderately interested in repair/gunsmithing. Whatcha think? Should I run back and hope to pick it up? Any ideas on what I might do with this thing once I get it up and running again?

jIn my opinion you can learn as you go. especially for that price.

definitely. And if all else fails, it was only $35, and you could make it LOOK good, and hang it up somewhere.

I bought 2 old Mossberg bolt actions for $50, I spent $70 getting one of them running again, and the other just needs a refinish. I probably cant recope the money but it was a fun learning experience. Here is what it looks like now.

Well worth the $25. On one note shop around and find the parts you need first. This one was missing a bolt head and I had a heck of a time finding one, finally did for $65 (:eek:). I knew they would cost that much but no idea they were that hard to find. I would take a part diagram of the gun into the shop and see exactly what is there and what you need to buy. Firing pins and screws are rather easy to find but much larger and you could have a problem. Of course if its a Mossberg 20ga you could just send it to me:D as I love the old bolt actions.
In short buy it and make it a project.
