Does anyone know if Taurus plans on making a Raging Bull in 460 XVR?
I want a 460 but the $1000 price tag in the S&W revolvers is kinda high for me.

460 Smith and Wesson. The XVR is the model designation for the S&W revolvers and I have not heard anything about a Taurus 460 S&W. You could look into the Magnum Research BFR's for slightly less or if you don't mind a single shot a Thompson Contender in 460. 460 is a fun but expensive round, really like my S&W.

I've seen some slightly used XVRs around here goin' for around $850. Lots of folks bought 'em and found out they really didn't have a legitimate reason to own one or couldn't afford to feed it. Reloading is almost a must if you want to shoot them much unless you have deep pockets......and if that's the case, the initial $1000 investment would not put you off.

Either look for a used one, or look at the BFR from Magnum Research.
The BFR is a very well made gun, I have one in 500 Mag and 45-70.

I'm not certain the raging bull frame is long enough to accommodate the 460 magnum. If so, you won't see one unless Taurus makes a stretch frame raging bull.

actually i believe the raging bull was made in .460 SW for a short while, like under a year. The .500 sw magnum one only lasted for 2 production years due to low demand and high price.
And ironically if you managed to find a used taurus raging bull in .460 for sale, expect to pay 20% over the original msrp.

I don't beleave Taurus made a 460 Mag ever. The 500 Mag was not in demand from Taurus. Hence it being discontinued.

the last yearly catalog from Taurus that had the vertical book arrangement, and the millenium pro (i think) on the cover with flames on it, and the pair of nickel plated gauchos on the back cover gave a listing of all calibers for each model of taurus handgun.
the raging bull had a list of almost 7 calibers. 454, 44, 500 mag, 30 carbine, and .460.
it was the 2005 catalog because taurus reused that one for the 2006 year. in the catalog they talk for a few pages about the raging bull series winning some kidn of "best gun of hte year" award.

They may of listed it, but I don't think it ever made it into production.

Unfortunately Taurus never released a .460 Raging Bull though the intent may have been there at some point in time. They did have plans for a Raging Bull in .223 but that idea was nixed as well. If they did make a .460 Raging Bull, there would be buyers for it undoubtedly, myself included.
