Hello, I bought a couple of Colts this weekend. I was wondering if some one would be able to help find out when they were made? I don't need exact date just approximate age.

The first one is a Colt Police Positive 38Spl Ser# 995XX it has a Patent date of July 4th, 1905 on it.

The second one is a Colt Python 357Mag Ser# E155XX.

Any information would be helpful, thanks.

Where can I look that info up? I'm looking at a Python but have not gotten the serial number off it yet.

I don't know of any web site where you can look up Colt SN's. Not saying there isn't one, I just haven't run across it.

There is a little blue book called Colt's Dates of Manufacture by R.L Wilson available through the shotgun news, midway ( I think) or likely even Amazon. Should cost about five bucks.

I want Vol. 2, that covers the late 70-s 80's through 2000.

How about a Python numbered K224xx?
