I am wanting to buy a Red Dot magnafied scope for a pistol. Can anyone recommend a good scope. I am also looking at the B-Square scope mount that fits on the 1911. Would be using the scope for hunting purpose.

Thanks

There really aren't any great magnified red dots, although if I really wanted one I'd get the Aimpoint. Is this for the aforementioned 1911?

This question brings up something I'm pondering. Do magnified pistol
scopes have any value now that red dots are so common? I have an
Ultradot on my Trailside and sometimes when I'm a little unsteady the
dot dances too much, ie. it would be easier to not see the small motion.
Seems like a 2X pistol scope would only make this worse. Anyone really
like their magnified pistol scope?

thanks,
Steve

I don't know how much magnification you're looking for, but the Aimpoint M2 and ML2 have 2X models now.

Resurrecting an old thread here.

Newest Sportsman's Guide catalog has a TRUGLO 2 X red dot scope. It is 2 power and 30mm diameter. Anyone have one of these? Are they any good. I like the red dots, but with no magnification, my eyes have a hard time seeing distant targets. The 2 power seems like a good idea for me. But how does magnification affect parallax?

I recently purchased one for my Ruger Mk 2 target pistol. I hade been using the pistol for action style matches (timed plates, etc.). At the longer distances, I was having trouble hitting the target. So, I tried out the 2x truglo. It is just as ss7 says - the dot jumps around too much at long distance to get a quick and accurate shot off. That said, it might work better on a rifle or long barreled hunting pistol. Regarding quality, it's pretty cheap. The detents for the dials are very mushey. Good luck.
