I am in the process of purchasing an Ma1 in 9 mm and was hoping to get some feedback. what is the overall impression of this gun. I like the way it feels and really like the sites as well, most everything I have seen does nothing but rave about the superiority of this gun...

Steyr's a good gun. I have two of the older models, an S9 (9mm) and an M357 (.357 Sig). Very easy to shoot and carry, very dependable. All that I've heard of the more recent models has been very positive as well.

Cheers!

Great gun. Get them now as Steyr has just announced that they are out of the US pistol market and that there will be no more. (with assurances that they will continue to service existing pistols).

thank you very much, everything I have seen has been quite positive, but I was hoping for some more direct opinions. I actually picked mine up today... an Ma1 in 9mm... I am looking forward to taking it to the range tomorrow... another thing though, has anyone had any experience with their customer service, are they easy to deal with and understanding in the event of a problem?

They've piqued my interest too and have only ever heard good things about them. If I ever see one here in either 9mm or .40 S&W, I'm picking it up! :)

If anyone is interested. Dunn's Sporting Goods, MO, ((636) 475-4240) has the M357-A1s for $400. He also has the M9-A1 and M40-A1 for the same price. A few friends called and spoke to Nathan and he agreed to ship them to any FFL. These are the last of them so if you ever wanted one of the Steyrs I would jump on this deal. They are going for $500-$700 on GB now.

I would get one more but I already have 2 :)

I have the 40. The thing is just solid. After shooting one of these it makes you wonder why in the world anyone would own a glock. Same trigger as glock but with additional safety. The sight system makes it impossible to get the picture wrong and reliability is unquestioned by anyone who has ever shot one.

every time I shoot mine (M9-A1) I am more impressed than the last time... If funds werent short, I would definitely look into the 357 sig.... unfortunately, they are, and I doubt I will find one at any sort of reasonable price when I can actually afford one...:(
