I have a Springfield XD9 Sub Compact (3" barrel). Will the XD40 mag fit this model? The goal here is to get a legal high cap mag for my XD9.

Thanks

Should fit no problem. Be weary of ramming the mag home. The frame isn't there to stop it and you could ram it too far and tear up the ejector (it would take more than once, but repeated impacts on the wrong surface of this part will break it. Now when the XD40 compact comes out, you should be able to cram 12 or so rounds of 9mm into the factory standard compact mag.

Thanks Southpawshootr,

I didn't even think of that and I probably would have done just that.

That's valuable advice and I thank you.

Got any word on the release of the .40 compact?

I believe I saw a thread over at www.hs2000talk.com where a guy had seen a picture of one at another website. He may have posted a link. If they are not already in R&D, they probably are in pre-production testing. Springfield has to know that this would be a hot item, although they have not issued any word on it as of yet. And they would sell well. Glock 27s do very well, so the market is there for sure. Only thing is alot of people buy these things and find that they are too much for them. Seen lots of used 27s (nearly no wear), but almost no 26s (9mm). I personally prefer the 9mm over the .40 in these sub-compact guns.

How about that!:what:

Here it is:

and the HS2000talk.com discussion:

Looks like it will be sooner rather than later. Mags seem to be there too.

So when will the .357 version be out?

just get the sub compact .40S&W and get a conversion barrel in 9 and .357sig or just .357sig.

on original question I would stay away from non sub compact magazines because they dont fit flush and if you bump bottom of the mag you could ruin your extractor. its known problem of all xd's extractors being destroyed from mag being to tight a fit.

you should try sub compact .40S&W magazines. should atleast get 12 rounds into them if they hold 9 of .40S&W. at most 14/15

good luck

You know, you could use a chunk of rubber tubing to make a "Spacer" for your modified magazine... this would allow you to safely use a 92FS mag because you now have a bumper to stop the mag from going in too deep and hard.
Whoa, sorry, that sounded obscene.
But you get the drift. If you do it right, it could even help the feel of the little gun when using this magazine.

I got to thinking after reading his thread, and I have a question. We can use 10 round .40 XD mags for 15 rounds of 9mm. The full size XD 40 mags (non PC versions) hold 12 rounds of .40. With one of those mag's it seems to me that you could get 17 or 18 rounds of 9mm in that magazine. The full size (Non PC) mags for the XD9 hold 15 rounds. So would it word if the ban expires to put in a full XD 40 mag for wven more rounds or am I overlooking something.
