I got a question. What if I need to move to another country and I want to take my gun with me. Is there a way to do this? WHat kind of red tape do I have to deal with?

thanks,

For starters, it kinda depends on the country you're moving to.

Well,

I am heading to Panama, Panama City. Got a beretta on 93' and I don't really want to sell it after all these years.

Get all in writing.

Before leaving the country, take your pistol to the nearest U. S. Customs office. They'll give you a form to fill out which verifies that you own the gun (or radio, or anything else of value) here in the US, and can bring it back without an import permit or anything like that. Essentially, you register the gun, but YOU - not the Customs service - keep the registration paperwork.

Normally, taking up to three (3) guns out of the country for target shooting, hunting, etc. is not a hassle. But note that some countries are on the "prohibited" list so if you were taking the pistol - or anything else! - to a place like North Korea you'd get in some hot water.

As for Panama . . . you need to check Panamanian law. Various countries south of the border have some strange laws and prohibitions on "military" calibers. In some places, 9mm P is forbidden, but .38 Super is OK.
