I have been reading a lot on Benellis and the SuperSport specifically. I am finding that some people hate Benellis and some people love them. Anyone here have some experience with this exact model? Benelli claims that the comfort tech system reduces kick but others are saying Benellis have more kick than most. What do you think? I just mainly want to hear feedback from people that have shot this gun.

Sorry I cant speak for the supersport but I've used a SBE II and own a supernova as far as the comfortech stock I only seem to notice a difference with heavy 3.5" loads. They kick more than most because the guns are so light and being "inertia driven" the action doesnt soak up as much recoil. Shooting USA did a comparison test to see if the comfortech stock actually works, and it does with the really heavy loads. Shooting lighter loads, I felt little difference compared to an 870, recoil is definately more abrupt with the benelli but I wouldnt say its harsh by anymeans. IMO a good recoil reducing pad works better than the comfortech.

They are both right depending on what comparison is made. I put a thousand rounds or so through a Benelli Cordoba last year which is the same gun as the Super Sport except with a different finish. The Comfortech does reduce the recoil compared to a Benelli without the feature but still the shotgun had more felt recoil than my Beretta 391.

I was considering buying the Cordoba but decided to stick with my 391 instead.

I owned one, sold it. 2 problems that I couldn't get past. #1 its light weight, and very "whippy" when I swung it. #2 Porting, I hated it but not as much as the guy standing to the side. If you can get past that, its a really great gun.

I haven't shot one yet but I will soon. It just seems funny that some people say it kicks less and others say it kicks more. Why is this so controversial? Shouldn't it be pretty cut and dry? After watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCj0PCGGxtA I personally have some expectations that it will have less kick. I know this is long so you can start it at 2 minutes and 30 seconds. It proves that there is less force on your shoulder than a Browning and Remington. So why do people still say that it kicks more?

Because everyone is different. If someone is used to shooting a gas gun then a benelli would kick more in comparison. Same with shotgun fit, if it fits right recoil will seem less than a gun that doesnt fit. Then there's proper technique when shooting also. Perceived recoil is a personal matter. What feels like nothing to you may be harsh for someone else. When asking how people respond to their paticular gun or ones they've tried your going to get nothing except their personal opinon. You wont know for yourself untill you try one. I believe the supersport doesnt come in a 3.5" chamber I could be wrong so If your not shooting the big stuff I wouldnt worry to much about recoil. Almost anyone can handle anything in a 2 3/4" - 3". When I first started shooting everybody warned me about the kick of a .30-06 and a 12ga. So when I finally got to shoot them I was a little standoffish and flinched pretty bad from just what people had told me. But in the end I found it wasnt nearly as bad as most made it out to be and I was all hyped up over nothing. Its always a bonus if you can get a chance to shoot the firearm before you buy it then you know for yourself what your getting into.

Yeah, just like the old bit about the .45 auto being a wrist breaker! :p

I shoot clays with a SuperSport. I have the 30" barrel version because I couldn't find a 28" barrel for the life of me when buying the gun. I find the recoil to be mild and to me, the gun swings very nicely despite having a long Benelli receiver and a 30" barrel.

Comparatively speaking, I also have a Benelli M4 and an HD-configured 18" 870. The 870 has the worst recoil of the bunch (even with limbsaver) in my opinion. The loads I shoot at either light target loads (Federal GM Paper or Winchester AA) or Federal Tactical reduced recoil 00 / 1oz slug.

I have never been worried about recoil but so many people complain about it that I figured I'd get some opinions on here. I just can't see it being a problem like some make it out to be.
