http://costofwar.com/ - costs of the War on Iraq
Now, how much does America's War on Drugs cost? (DEA salaries, imprisonment of the criminals, hospital costs, je ne sais quoi...)?
And how much does gun control cost (on both federal/state level)?

What's to say? It's basically a duplicate thread of "The Cost of the War in Iraq" - A Running Total (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43152)

OK, I'll chime in. It would be a BIG task with a lot of factors to take into consideration, but if done well it could be very useful.

Nope. I wasn't talking about the war on Iraq. I wondered whether we could apply the same principle to the War on Guns or the War on Drugs. (reply to Al)

The website that gave you an idea for this thread doesn't even draw the necessary interest for its "point" to be useful.
The "cost of the war on drugs" site will be quashed by someone posting pictures what happens to people when they abuse drugs (e.g. the movie Trainspotting). Just like when people try to post about how DWI laws are onerous based on how the evidence is collecet, i.e. breath tests -- these result in photos of simulated DWI accidents to "prove" how horrible it is... bla bla bla...
The "cost of the war on guns" site would fail because, i believe, the actual cost of the war on guns by federal and state legal systems is moderate or negligible. The fact that the war on guns is very expensive for the gunmaker, gun owners and is a horrifying tax on liberty would be ignored. The simple fact is that the huge majority of gun owners are "law abiding" and therefore pay the fees associated with owning guns -- thus the cost is mild to the state.
