If you don't currently have some young-uns around yer place, this one may not register.

It's from a kid's show (cartoon) called "Maggie and the Ferocious Beast" (but the Beast is anything but).

Three of my four kids really like it, too!

You never heard of Frank Zappa?:what:

That's from "Nanuk of the North" off the Apostrophe Album. (You know, those big, black CD's:D )
I never figured out if FZ was pro or anti but his kids sure are worthless. With names like Moon Unit, Dweezil, and Ahmet it may not be totally their fault though.

Stay safe.

Hmmmm, I was in the 1500 club on TFL, now I'm the bottom of the barrel. :( But then, working for gun money is probably more important than posting about guns (and I get to read THR at work, just cant post).

Well, this place is addictive. I think it's just something about being a new forum. On TFL, I tended not to get involved in the threads that had been rehashed but here, everything is technically new.

It doesn't seem like I spend a whole lot of time on this forum but in 26 days, I already have nearly as many posts on THR as I did in 9 months on TFL and I'd like to think they're mostly quality posts and not just two or three word responses to drive up my post count... ;)

Are you folks really this young, or do I know more useless trivia than I should? On the Sanford & Son show, Fred's old friend, Grady, used to say that too. Could have been Good Googly Moogly, but the googley moogley was still there.

What is "Great Googly Moogly" from?Somebody may have to confirm the oldest attribution, but IIRC, a cartoon in the '70's had "Grape Ape" on it and he used to say "Good Googly Moogly". Maybe somebody with waaay too much time on their hands can confirm? :scrutiny: :p

I was thinking the same thing. I remember watching Grady on Friday nights, Followed by Freddie Prinze SR, and the Rockford Files.

Man, on this very thread we have 700+ posters (the original post), 600+ posters, 500+ posters, heck even the 300 and 400+ posters given how short THR has been up are high numbers. I think many of us need to get lives.

Work, shooting, and THR, are what keep me going. Yes, it is addictive!

Some of my posts are lengthy and some are short. I'd like to think that they are all quality but some are probably not. As with any conversation it all depends on what you have to say! :)

Actually, the first known origins of the phrase is from the Howlin' Wolf song "Goin' Down Slow"(1961),I have that one. Zappa gave praise to the old Bluesmen like Howlin' Wolf and Elmore James and used it in his song "Nanook Rubs It" (1974), have that too.
I must admit though, I didn't know that one right off the top of my head. I went Googling Moogling.
