OK, this stock is my "test mule". It's been badly painted by me four other times in an attempt to get a reasonable breakup pattern that I would not be embarrassed to be seen with in the woods.

All of my attempts so far have been, well, lessons at best.

I was out hunting crow yesterday in the Rockies south of Bailey. At lunchtime I found a nice rock out cropping that gave a beautiful view of about two hundred acres of Aspen in every shade from green to orange with lots of yellow in between.

Sitting on this rock, which was grey with light green lichen splotches and some sort of powder blue splotches I thought about how you would try to recreate that or somthing close to it with paint.

I have been wanting somthing like a desert pattern and so I came up with this iteration of camo stock.

I would appreciate your opinions. Would you be seen in the woods with a rifle looking like this? Have the paint fumes affected my judgement? I think it looks pretty good, but then I once wore stripes and plaid and thought that looked good too.

Lemme know. Thanks:D

Methinks your missunderstanding the purpose of camo :D

Looks like it would be pretty good under an oak tree in the fall. Personally, I prefer a walnut stock but thats a nice job.

Well the lack of comments means my lack of taste in things artful lives on.

Oh well:o

Actually, it does not look nearly that bright in real life, guess my camera skills need some work.

Anyway I tried the same sort of technique, or process for makin ugly, depending on your view on a savage .17HMR.

The stock on this thing was so ugly that even my artful touch, or lack there of, is an improvement.

Now if I can only find a blue forest:D
