I was wondering where all the 380 went or did I miss something?

It does seem to have completely dried up, even more so than other calibers. I don't know why, but I would speculate that the ammo manufacturers are busy with those other calibers.

It is in pockets in all those LCP's and P3AT's that you also can't find.

I think marv has the answer. I think the guns in 380 are in a lot of pockets on a full time basis now.

That's an interesting observation, as I took the day off and spend all day sorting ammo and stacking it in the large ammo cans. I got at least 1000 rounds of every caliber per can, but when I got to .32 and .380 I had a whopping 100 and 250 rounds respectively...out and didn't know it!

I did find a pawn/gun shop in my town this morning that had cases of every caliber I could think of...but I didn't think of .32 and 380...!@#^%#$. Interesting too, they had cases of primers on pallets and I keep hearing that there aren't any reloading supplies to be found either...not the case here!

I'm going back tomorrow and check on .32 and .380 and buy just 4 more ammo cans...already spent $150 on ammo cans today...taking off work is too expensive.

There is no .380 at all where I live. Makes me glad I didn't buy the LCP when I had a chance. I would then have another gun I can't find ammo for.:cuss:

Think about the recent rash of not only new concealed handgun carriers, but the rash of new .380 "ultra-compact" pocket guns. Kel-Tec P-3AT, Ruger LCP, Kahr P380, the upcoming Sig P238, plus the old standby Walther clones, the Beretta Cheetah, Seecamp and NAA Guardian, etc... It's the "new" hot caliber for those who are just getting into carrying.

Yup, a lot of new small pistols in that caliber.

I found some Magtech at my local store and they were asking $41 for a box of 50. Crazy. I'm just getting into reloading and have the dies. I have about 500 rounds I can shoot then reload. Only need bullets.

After looking for a month or so I finally found some yesterday. I talked to the guys at the gun counter at BassProShops and they filled me in on how their receiving schedule looks. The second trip in there they had about 30 boxes of which I bought 20. Just took persistence. I'm good for a while now on 380. I am much happier since I can now actually shoot my LCP. Prior to this I have only put about 75 rounds through it since I had only had a little less than 2 boxes. Had to save a few to keep the mag full. Good luck in your searches.

have a bud coming into town who wanted some .380. I called around town. The Dude at WallyWorld who picked up when I asked for the gun counter said "I think so." Only other "yes" was from my least-favorite shop (in 7 counties, no less) said "Sure, we have plenty." Well, yeah, duh, $21.99 a box for UMC FMJ.

If you haven't built up your personal reloading stash by now you may be out of luck.

www.georgia-arms.com They have Canned Heat in 380. That's military cans with 500 or 1000 rounds of FMJ's. Smaller quantities are also available. I bought some before I began rollin' my own. I also bought Canned Heat in 357sig/1300fps. Their stuff is very reliable and very consistent.

I have about 500 rounds in the safe. For a round that is "not good enough for SD" it sure is popular ;)

I can on occasion find 100 round WWB at WallyWorld for around $33.00. But you have check in frequently because it's not there for very long.

And that's the problem right there. People are in hoarding mode. Where a few months ago they would buy a few boxes at a time, now they buy 20 boxes or the entire store's stock. I spoke with an employee at Wallmart who indicated individuals were going from Wallmart to Wallmart buying entire stocks of certain calibers they shot.

I reload for .380 as well as other calibers I shoot.

I reload for the 380, but the shop I frequent had plenty of it on hand, they were just out of 9mm.

I'd like to say that I bought it all up and have it sitting in my gun safe, but I'd be fibbing; I can't find any, either, and have been looking steadily for going on 8 weeks now. The .380 is as scarce as the 9mm, and the 9mm is pretty much non-existent.

I'd sure appreciate it if all of you hoarders out there would stop this nonsense and let some of the rest of it get a shot. And I'll bet that I'm not alone in saying this. :)

I haven't noticed. I was thinking about getting a 380, but I guess I'll check on ammo first.

There's plenty of 9mm at the local shop for the princely sum of 14.00/50.

Time to trade a few more AR mags for 1000.

I've gone through 600 plus 380 rounds this past month breaking in and just shooting my Khar P380. I stocked up on commercial ammo over a year ago and I reload.

In case anyone else thinks I was hoarding....I picked up 20 boxes which was split among 2 friends and myself. I wanted 2 to shoot through my new, to me, LCP and a few to have as back-up for shooting later. I only kept 8 boxes which is typical of what I buy of other ammo when I go shopping.

it comes down to manufacturers are working round the clock no more popular rounds... the 9s, 40s, 45s, 38s (which i am still having a hard time finding)....etc... as a result... we have this problem.
