I realize that one should check headspace on old bolt guns and gas operated guns, but what about blow-back guns? I have a feeling the answer is no, but I just needed an expert confirmation. Thanks.

Such as a .22 auto-loader?
Or .32/.380 ACP pistol?
Regardless, it isn't necessary unless you are having mis-fire problems with either, or blown case rims in the .22 RF.
Match grade .22RF pistols or 10/22 Rugers?
More important there in order to get consistant ignation for best accuracy.
Delayed blow-back centerfire rifles like the HK-91/93, CETME?
Very important, due to the higher pressures involved.
I guess the answer is, it all depends on what type of gun you are asking about.
