I have a buddy who won a weatherby vanguard in 7mm rem mag and said he would sell it to me for $300. I tried to look up the model but had no luck, it is "blued" but has a green synthetic stock. what model is this? he tells me its unfired. He is a lefty and the gun is right handed. Is it worth the money, good shooting guns in general? I know this is like a Howa 1500 which are highly regarded. Opinions please!. I have attached a pic.

Great shooting guns in general.
I happen to really like the Weatherby stock pattern. I have a .30-06 in walnut. Fits and shoots great.
I'd buy it for $300 if I were you -- and it felt good to shoulder it.:)

Do you know what model this is? When did they come out with green synthetic stocks?

Is it plain green, or does it have litle specks or thread-like thingies on it?

Hmm...
I haven't seen a green one like that. Could have been any time over the past 10 years.
However, there's no reason to believe the guns are any different during that time period. I think that Howa may have gone to a 3-position safety recentlly (my Vanguard from a few years ago has a 2-position bolt-locking safety). Otherwise, I'm aware of no changes in the construction, quality or specs.

OK thanks for the info, I figured it was safe to assume that its the same as a black synthetic version that is on the Weatherby website.

$300 is a great deal on a Vanguard or any new rifle. Snap it up!! Then again there will be people on shortly telling you to pay more for it.
