I was talking to my neighbor earlier this evening. He works for the local PD. He sad, he saw my name come across his desk. I guess that the County sends a list out to all of the local law enforcement of people who receive CC permits. The local departments then put the names and addresses in their dispatch computer so it flags officers of CC permit holders.Two things bug me about this.
The first thing is that I went through the hoop and was checked out so I could have a concealed gun and I am getting put into a computer as a "flag". The bad thing about this is that in Colorado you can (legally) have a gun in your house and even have a gun concealed in your car with no special permitting or anything. So the person who goes through the legal channel so they can legally walk from their car parked on the curb to their own sidewalk gets "flagged" by the PD. Also, I thought the CCW law said that they couldn't keep a connsolidated list of permit holders. I guess this is a way around that by "distributing" the list.
The second issue I have is that I DON"T HAVE A PERMIT. I applied about six weeks ago and have not heard back yet from the County. I asked my neighbor if the list he received was of applicants or permit holders. He said it was for holders and said, "We don't care if somebody gets rejected". So I guess I have been approved and not informed of the approval. I wonder if they are going to wait until the maximum legal 90 days to let me know?
I also kind of wish my neighbor did not know, but if something happened in the (close knit) neighborhood, he would know another person to call for assistance.
