Hopefully so. My model 29 has recently been difficult to open the cylinder lately and as it turns out, the extractor pin/rod loosened up. Now being that I've never unscrewed the extractor rod before, how does one go about tightening it?

Also being that I have never taken the cylinder off, is that a simple process? For cleaning lets say.

The front side-plate screw holds the cylinder assembly in the gun.
Take it out and the crane & cylinder will slide right off.
Then the cylinder assembly will slide out of the crane.

The ejector rod needs to be unscrewed the rest of the way and de-greased with solvent or alcohol.
There are a couple of springs inside you need to keep track of when you take it out.

Then put just a small drop of BLUE Lock-Tight put on the threads and put back together.

Clamp the ejector rod between two soft wood blocks lightly so as not to damage it.
Put two empty cases in opposing chambers, and hand tighten fairly snug.

Do Not over tighten.
Do Not use pliers on the rod end.

.......and it's a lefthand, or backwards thread which means to tighten you loosen but you've likely discovered this already.

.......and though the removed front sideplate screw allows loose the crane yoke cylinder so that it could fall from the gun if open and pointed downward it's so easy to remove, it's also easy to do mighty damage to the finish of the cylinder possibly the frame if done carelessly without seeing to it that the frame possible contact is aligned with a flute.

When you add Loctite, be very, very careful how much you get in there, or else you'll find the ejector and center pin locked in place! I'd suggest applying a very tiny dab to a toothpick, and applying it to the threads that way.
