Greetings folks,

This is my first post here. This is a great forum, I've been learning a lot.

I have alloy framed Para's purchased in about the Mid 90's. A P12, P13 & a P14 Ltd. Can I use +P ammo, like the CorBon JHP without any problems?

I would only fire enough through each to ensure relaibility (and keep them loaded for SD), then only shoot FMJ at the range.

Any input greatly appreciated...

There really are no "old" Para's.
In the grand scheme of things, they haven't been in business all that long.

There is no reason you can't shoot +P, but it really isn't needed in a .45.

It just makes more noise and slows down fast follow-up shots because it kicks harder.

+1 to RC! JUst get a high quality 230grain hp and you will be just fine. My double stacked gun rights model likes Golden Sabers.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't intend to purchase +P's. I didn't know the CorBons I was ordered (and thus received) were +P's

Mitch, FWIW, I prefer the 200gr CorBon DPX for my Para 12.45 - after going through our data (see my sig) I came to the conclusion that was what I wanted for the 3.5" barrel. But hey, it's a .45 - just about anything should be pretty good for a SD round, if you do your part.

Cheers, and welcome to the forum!

A reasonable amount of it will not hurt anything. But it is like driving your car under full throttle acceleration and braking all the time. The harder you use it the sooner something will break.

With the cost of the stuff, you might break your bank account before the gun. :neener:

Shadan,

Thanks for the info. And thanks for the data from that link! I feel like I should have to pay for it, LOL.

When Paras first came out , all you could buy was a frame and all the frames were alloy. I bought one the first year they were for sale and had a gunsmith build me a good match gun for IPSC --- shot that gun for about 3 years and put over 5000 rds. thru it --- all kinda "hot".
There was a little peening around the slide stop hole but other then that the gun was fine. The load was a 200gr.SWC at about 950fps.
